World reactions - What has happend in German because of this
I heard a few things like Octoberfest being canceled because a large number of the people that go to it are Americans and if a terrorist wanted to strike at the Americans again the better place would be to do it were Americans gather in large number out side of their country. Is there any truth to this, about Octoberfest being canceled or postponed? I was just wondering.

the oktoberfest has not been canceled, but i think, the final decision will be made wednesday. a few traditional parts are canceled, but i dont know which and why.

I don't care for oktoberfest an stuff, but many other things have been cancelled too.

this is somehow strange:
there were discussions about canceling the "oktoberfest", even here, in vienna, a lot of smaller things were canceled, but disneyworld etc. opened its doors on the 12th, one day after this happened, again.
it's strange in many other ways as well (and i don't want to point out every single point in detail, for i have discussed about it too much in the last days..), e.g. when 1400 people died in a mine in china some weeks ago, there just were a few short articles in newspapers, i didn't hear of anyone canceling any activity, i heared of noone holding one minute of scilence in memory of them. when some month ago there was a civil war in ruanda (in africa), where some 10000 children where tortured and killed afterwards, no activity were canceled, i didn't hear of any minutes of silence in memory of these children (there were a lot more people killed in really terrible ways, i don't want to go into detail...).
are americans (germans, ...) more worth than chinese? than ruanda's children? do i have to be very, very sad when some 5000 americans die, have to hold minutes of silence, cancel parties etc., but when 10000 children are tortured to death there's just nothing? (don't tell me you didn't know about that war -- it was on every news network, newspapers, radio etc., not 24/7 like this "event", but it WAS there and you knew it).
maybe i made you think about human life. if not, well, i gave my best.

Most stupid things that mankind ever invented were terror, war and murder...
Many people always choose to walk the path with the fewest resistance. May be okay - why should i carry all these heavy crates when a crane can do that ? - but if people decide to go with the mass and stop thinking themselves because that is easier, it's stupid.
In our profit-oriented society, some people who do not act out of selfish or profitable reasons are thought to be insane or crazy. Many rich people who donate for good things don't do it for the help it could bring, but only for the publicity it brings (in fact they get back most or everything they donate from their taxes). People do not go to church because they really care for, they just do because they are seen in public, and will be good people in the talk of the others when they show up there. The very same person who goes to church every sunday morning and sings in the choir comes home and drinks and beats his children and his wife, and buys sexual activities from prostitutes, and whatever.
The same people who pretend to be good cristians put on white coats and masks and burn people who have another skin color and other cultures, for example. Or an arabian muslime, pretends to be a holy man for the people, while his fanaticism brings death and terror to thousands. Or the israeli soliers who attack their neighbour countries, thinking to prevent terrorism, but kill civil people and in fact provocate and create terrorism as reaction.
Such things happen everywhere on the whole world, all the time. And these same people, in some situations, complain that "god" does not help. If you were a good god, and you would see the people acting with such double morale, what would you do ? Help them and support them in their daily betrayals ? Or try to make them learn something, even if they will suffer from it ?
People always think they are something better than others. Especially better than others who have fewer money, wealth and technology, have other religions, or just live in another country. All these little egomaniacs, supported by the little masses of their small or bigger countries, THAT is what humankind looks like. The same states who pretend to follow human rights and equality and freedom for all, take the right to humiliate minorities. Some "equal" people are more "equal" than others ? Hmm...
And when the whole world looks like this, and it does, it's no wonder people do stupid stuff like terrorism, wars, and whatever. If people could be less egoistic / egocentric... perhaps such stupid things would just not happen anymore. But until then, greed, money and wars will continue to rule and destroy the world. And the people in it, black, white, yellow an red ones, and whatever religion they follow. After all, all of us are only humans. All are equal.
So start to think, don't shake off uncomfortable thoughts, face them, find solutions for them. Accept other people. For understanding them, you must learn about their culture, their social and personal background and surroundings. People NEVER act without a reason. If some bully picks on you, he is not what he is only because of himself, he is so because he was lead to be like that by his surrounding society.
Want to be a "good" human ? Then be true. Especially to yourself. Lies are not only unnecessary, no matter if against yourself or others, they only cause trouble.
And dammit - USE the little thing you carry inside your head.
