To the DEVs

Post by Ellaron »

I started to think long and hard about whether I should post this, and that very fact persuaded me I should.

I want to make a few things clear.

1: Some of the things you put into the game annoy the hell out of me and until proven wrong I will argue that fact.

2: Some of the things you put into the game I think are inspired genius and will grovel at your feet for being the gods you are.

3: Some of the things you put into the game I really can't get up enough effort up to like or loathe.

4: Every second you spend on this game making any change at all, good or bad, I appreciate more than words could express.

5: I want this game to be all it can be. As I'm sure you do.

6: Just because you've put 6 months of hard graft into something doesn't mean it can't be shite.

7: Something you spend 5 minutes on can change the game and make it better than ever.

8: If I criticize something you implement, I am criticizing the idea and not the effort you put in to it.

9: Sometimes you're right sometimes I'm right.

10: It's your game. You have the technical ability, the hardware and the drive to make it what you want. If you want criticism then you'll get it, hopefully constructive. If you just want praise for everything you do then just make that clear and I'm sure you'll get that too, though from a smaller source.

I am writing this not as a complaint but as, hopefully, a reasurance that we the players are behind you. Just because we complain does not mean we do not appreciate your work, just the result sometimes. Sometimes we are right to complain and sometimes we are wrong.
Recently I complained about the new magic teaching system. I was worried that bad / evil characters would have to change their behaviour to others so that they might be taught the runes. Martin has made an investigation and assures us this is not the case so fairplay I withdraw my complaint.
Well that was it really. If you take nothing else from this post take point 4.

That was very well said. I think Ellaron speaks for a lot of us with this post.

Bootlicker!

No, really, I guess most players think how he thinks. Some are just a bit rude and less thinking when telling their opinions about new things.
