The magic system affecting the fighters.
My character have been burned more than once by magic, and i think that magic is too strong for that they are no real way to get magic resistance.Thoses that trained their fighting character for months will be blown up by every mages easily in about a month i think at this rate, and MOST players use a magic casting character,i hope they wont be everyone casting magic and beating fighters easily. And also i would like to know if the magic resistance skill is implemented cause i got magic casted on me more than once and the skill aint appeared up yet.Im not really complaining, the magic system is good and all but i just dont want it to become a magic game, can i have some advices?

magic and melee were never balanced =P. A mage could always just paralyze, ice flame you, then hit you with ice bolts until you died. A mediocre mage could almost always kill the best warriors
Im not saying anything about this system, cuz i dont know how it works. Though i hope there are good cooldowns for mages now

ok,the facts is that EVERY character learn magic, only like 3/40 are refused, and im happy Salathe agree with me at least him...Like im sure that in a month, mages that are talking lessons now will tell Salathe and other strong fighters to shut up,and if us,the fighters riposte they paralize us and send us a bolt of ice and beat us like pigs whatever!I mean a mage that train a month should be about as good as a fighter that train a month, thats called balance, and if there is not than we will have to change the name from Illarion to the marvelous world of magic.I just dont want that and surely other fighter players agree.Maybe its balanced i dont really know but im saying it now.Ah and is the magic resistance skill implemented yet?
And for the GM power and all,i find it unfair that thoses that RPed their ass for magic academy of varshikar get completely nothing and that some peoples get their characters powered up even thought they didnt train them because they are GM,i thought i had seen when we start an account that you disliked advantages ig,its good for quest and i find it ok for the archmages thought.I know im rude, but i had to say it,and dont think im like a GM hater or anything,i know you guys worked hard and i appreciate that really im just saying my opinion.
the archmages have no fighting skills and a really low constitution. Just for information. so they are NOT in this case. I don't know, why you allways, cry, "invincible char, invincible char" when you can't kill one with the first hit -.- This becomes really silly.
Shall i show you a invincible char? And how such a char kills you with bare hands?

I imagine you have a strong right arm Fooser but you're weak in the left, right?
Maybe it can be balanced in this fashion:
No magic resistance to speak of. That's like getting resistance to being burned.
Success is hard to achieve in magic unless really skilled in it, kind of like how it used to be. If success is frequent, then the fighter will get his bum kicked because he lost to a highly skilled mage. If success is low, then not enough missles will damage the fighter to kill him, and the fighter will pWn the mage.
Simple?

you forgot one important think...
1. it isn't so easy like in past to become a really strong mage
2. a mage can only focus one player at one time, he cann never fight a group of harmless monsters, a fighter can....
3. if a mage cast out all mana, he is out of power... and dont forget at the moment we have NO mana potions....
4. Why dont try it with tactic? Take two friend, take three bows and say good bye mage!
... i dont understand that crying, a (real) mage NEVER! can enter alone the simplest doungen, he will be so fast dead becouse that are to much enemies and he is to fast out of mana that he have 0 chance. But we accept taht we are no all-killing-hero-machines, why do you cant that too? There is every time someone how is stronger as you...

Only one thing Djironnyma , we have mana potions
I have 10 *gg* , but the rest is right , dont cry , we must learn in a school...
Anyone of you learn fighting in a school? No , everyone of you , went to the
pigs and kill it , make this 100 times and then you went to the mummies ,
kill the mummies 200 times , you went to the skeletons.... (just an example)
isn´t it?

i knew this was coming up, the fighter and mage issue. as it always does. well first Sal, here's this issue. as said aside from the gm played characters Damien and Dji, no one has magic skills. your idea for cool downs is frankly ludacris. just enough time for you to get in range and start hitting the person who cast on you knowing well enough that once you do land a hit there spells become completely ineffective as they lose life, they have only the weakest of armors, and your character his a warrior with a rediculous amoutn of strenght and no magical attributes. i'd be surprised if Sal had Intelligence over 9.
thing is people set there characters one of two ways mostly. either mage class or fighter class. witha few inbetweeners like myself and some others i know.
with your fighters all the do is sacrifice all there magical attributes to have rediculously high fighting attributes. no one forced you to do this, it was your choice on your character. the problem as i see it now, is that the strongest fighters on the isle will no longer be able to throw there weight around at everyone, and fights will no longer just be decided by who's strenght and constitution is closest to twenty.
same goes for the uber mages however, who will soon realize they made the same mistake as you did. thought they may have powerful spells there are going to be enemies and or groups of enemies that will annihilate them because all they did was pump there magic stats and said to hell with all else, again this is a player choice. in which you can't blame the system for. no one made super fighters or super mages make there stats the way they did, everyone did exactly what they wanted with there characters so i don't see why everyone is complaining.
for you information Sal(and other players of super fighters who always have it out for the magic system), there are fighters that beat me all the time even though i'm far more trained then them, but i don't go saying the fighting system is unfair, it's something i have to deal with because of how i made my characters.
as said i'm sure they'll be more balance to the system then there was before, but the system will not make up for the stupidty of those of you out there with as minimum essence as you could give yourselves.
i agree with Shand can we wait until the magic system is actually around, if Arameh gets toasted for screwing with the archmages then that completely an i told you so moment. (which i believe at leats someone did)

The problems to me aint really that, first my chartacter got 8 of essence thats not too bad he aint a "super fighter".Also what i dont like is that no one got any magic resistance SKILL,it means everyone has the same or about defence agains magic,no matter what they do,until they become a super magic target. So if a mage get strong enought to cast a spell that can kill someone in a hit then he can kill everyone in a hit,it makes the same from the super newb to Salathe's character. What i would suggest is that fighting and all gives like healt or something like that,so that newbs and good characters have a difference toward magic. Some will tell me that there is no healt in RL and that fire burn everyone equally.YES IT DOES in RL there is no magic,as some said were not in RL were in a game, and maybe equipment could make a difference toward magic too.
The only possible way i can see a spell killing someone in one hit would be for that caster to have super magical stats(like screwing with gms) when casting it. as to normal casters even at the highest level of power for the strongest spell would vary person to person depending on there essence. there would be no spell that kills EVERY character in one shot or instantly unless that spell was designed for that purpose and would therefore never be in the hands of a regular player.
again same difference, just as constitution of twenty means you can take more blows then constitution of ten (for example). thus twenty essence takes less damage then ten does. magic resistance will basically only maximize that which you have to it's fullest potential. it won't boost your stats for you, thusly same problem would remain.
