Perhaps give away some little hints for people who dislike taking classes aswell. Everyone should be dependant on that guild?
What about the VMA? It's a slap right into their face.

It's an Ingame matter. Until anyone can be a teacher himself, he needs to learn from the archmages.

Maybe there are other ways ;) Who knows?

I am disappointed in the way it has been reintroduced.
Its good that magic is back and no doubt it will be great. But IMO it would have been better to reintroduce it through the existing magic groups rather than arbitrarily bringing in a completely new agency in direct competition with them.
In the short term at least it does harm the existing groups. But we will see how it goes.
Thanks for all your efforts with the new magic system.

Yeah, the VMA has been hanging in there for months without having any real implimented magic to back themselves up, then they get bypassed. But Im sure it will work out with time

well i hear it's possible to have magic throwing monsters and npc's soon. so it won't be any different then regular training, if your into pain. like ALL you warrior characters seems to be, back of the magic system, it just got here.

powergamming is power gaming weather it's npc or pvp, get over it.

*raises hand* Question over here.

Would this mean ALL magic forms(Druid, Bard, Priest, Mage) are back IG? or just Spells?

*claps* Good job by the way.

Just magic magic. the other forms are still in work.

And Athian. My char will fight monsters in melee, but he will avoid magic throwing monsters like hell. its one thing if you have the monster in front of you, if you block his hits or dodge, or get cut but return a stroke and so on. But to have a monster a few feets away which throws burning fireballs at you or terrible cold icespells, than its alot different.

See it like this. someone who likes fighting in our days may go into the streets and box or wrestle or whatever with others. in a bar, or in a backstreet. But he wont be such an idiot to raise his hand or a bottle and attack someone who shoots with a gun at you or holds a flamethrower.

There is a simple, but very good advantage for the learning thing. I myself disliked it in the beginning, BUT ! I found out after thinking a while :

With the actual method, EVERY mage will have to learn the new rune changes. Means, everyone who wants to be a mage, will have to do the academy tests, will have to ROLEPLAY a lot ! We will roleplay courses, lessons, tests... and even notes.
Magic therefor will be more rare, especially since it can have some requirements and not everyone will be willing to do it. That means, magic can also be more effective ingame, since you have to RP a for it.
In fact, it is an advantage for every magic user, well that is if you enjoy roleplaying !

The RP-explanation is also done ingame. It was thought through for a while, and a way was found that explains WHY the old master mages must learn it. By the way - the old magic was "toy" magic - the Lor-Angur-Mages will be able to teach REAL spells...

But people who get into drunken brawls aren't trained warriors. It seems to me that if I were a tactician in a fantasy realm, my first lesson to the troops would be to attack spellcasters first and foremost and worry about other threats afterwards.

My advice would be to command the archers to kill the mages as fast as possible with arrows before they can cast spells onto my groups ;)

but thats my elven opinion
