School of Combat - a new 'guild'?
What we need is a guild which provides an environment of sharing of knowledge between its members. Such a guild would help newcomers and experienced players alike. There would be tests for warriors wanting to test their strength. This will not be the only purpose however. There will be many different sections to it, some doing different things. I think this would benefit all the players of illarion by spreading knowledge.
There will be instructors to the guild who will give the tests and will help the other members out. Other members of the guild will be able to carry on with their normal lives, and take the tests to chech their strength. This is not a strict guild environment, rather a school which accepts students regardless of their race or which guild they are part of.
If anyone else is interested in being a instructor or just a student please reply.

I am interested in being an instructor however, I would like to learn the philosiphies (I know, spelling) in order to better myself. However, instead of having a Mage section we should refer people to the magic academy. Hopefully, this guild will better Illarion.

I am currently working on a web page which will explain this in more depth. Details to follow.

One point of the game is to find out what you can do in the game.
If you give newbys all hints it will be fast boring for the newbys.
think over it

There's already a school for things that can be teached, it's called "Magic Academy" or simply "the academy".
If you start a thing for "training" purpose, note that "training" usually is powergaming, and is forbidden !

This School is not about teaching magic. About making the game fast, I do not think that it will make the game faster because they may have skills in the game, but their skills at the game in real life will have to gradually improve. It is not like as soon as they start they will be killing demons. This will only make people able to defend themselves from the skeletons etc. It will also make it harder for PKers to kill all the newbies. The academy will be the place to learn magic because it is more specialized. We will have only 12 levels in our tests because that is not our main purpose. We may give newbies items and skills, but it will be their choice how to use them. This is not a place of powergaming, and we do not encourage powergaming at all. Students will train their skills in a perfectly legal way (by fighting creatures when they have to) and will take the test when they think they have "trained" enough. It may seem like the academy, but we are do not intend to make a second academy. This is not our purpose. All races and members of all other guilds are able to join.

i suggest that you wont be starting that kind of guild..
"The Magic Academy" aint a place where they learn you everything...
they check how much you know about magic.... do quests and take exams it aint for learning newbies to become so strong that we'll have to try VERY hard to kill them if they kill other players

Some people already give newbies the some of the best stuff in the game. Also, we would not make it mandentory for newbies to come to us. They can make a choice of whether or not they want to come to us. If they do we will give them some stuff (mostly for defense) but not everything. Also, we will tell them about various monsters and warn them to stay away from some until they get strong. Although this will not be the only purpose of the guild it will be one in which we hope to prevent people from "powergaming" and killing newbies. I, myself know that getting killed by other gamers, never mind monsters is upsetting. Hopefully we will have more people playing Illarion thus increasing the enjoyment of the roleplaying game. I suggest that we leave the mage testing to the Magic Academy because they were first and they are a great place to practice magic. Although the School of Combat is not and probably not be the final name it is highly encouraged for people to join "The School of Combat" Thank you for your time

I agree that the Magic Academy should be the only school for magic, but this guild will not only be for mages. Mages are still welcome though. Like Roke said, we will give new players advice on the game, but it will still be theirs to play and advance their skills how they wish. The name "School of Combat" will probably change by the time that it is fully operational so stay posted for that. Website is still under construction. I will post it when it is complete.

Just to clarify...the Magic Academy answers the questions and problems you may have rather than just giving all the information to you and taking the fun out of the game. The academy may seem a bit more corporal now but part of the reason for its founding was to help unexperiecned newcomers, but everyone can help newbies without neccesarily being a "teacher". The academy may seem to be lacking a bit in the "helping out newbies environment" due to the shortage of academy teachers, because being an academy teacher had required more than simply knowing how to play the game to ensure that they would teach newbies the right ethics and conduct as well.

It's nice to see that some things have been cleared up. I am open to all name suggestions for the new guild. However we still need 2 or 3 new members to officially get things going. I hope that all decisions in this guild are made by more then 1-4 people once we start going. I also hope that we cooperate with the academy. Thank to Dyluck for clarifying some things about the Magic Academy and hopefully there will be more teachers (no I will probably not be one for a while if ever). Thank you.

The School of Combat welcomes two new members! Sir Hope has attained 1st level warrior, and Baron of Power (no longer evil!) has attained the rank of Minor Warrior. My second in command, Roke, is now a 4th level warrior. We are still searching for new members, so contact the headmaster.

Breaking News!
I have been speaking with Sir Hope and he has acknowledged that there is a possibility of a merge between the Ranger Guild and the School of Combat. If you have anything to say about this please post here.
