At the main page it says " Reccomended for 16 years or older " Now... does age really matter in terms maturity? I am 11 and most of the time maturer than many other people older than me. Who agrees with me?
Hadrian, I've met people 16 or older who are extremely immature, not that I'm naming anyone named Hadrian. This guy seems to be rather mature for his age. Ziel was just an idiot.
I know it may be a guideline, but it was not nesscasry to state that. Many people under 16 are quite mature, but alas, as you said, most people over 16 have more chance of being maturer than under 16.

That's why it's a guideline not a rule. it's mainly as a warning that mature roleplay is expected so we don't get bombarded nine year olds that think this is Tibia II.

It is their game. The language, themes and situations are of a mature setting. Encouraging 10 year olds to play a game like Illarion could result in possible lawsuits from crazy parents. The warning gives the game some legal help if someone claimed that Illarion warped their child's mind.
Mmmmmm... From all opinions I've gathered Europe is less lawsuit crazy than our homeland. Of course, I think the news overstates all our silly lawsuits. I don't personally know anyone who's sued anyone... but Michiganders tend to be down-to-earth, I suppose.
i started this game about 2-3 years ago i think and im 15 now...i think i started when i was about 12...i never had any one tell me i sounded immature, just dont act like it and no one will call you it. I know some one whos been playing for longer than i have and hes a year younger than me*coughs* ceigan *coughs* hes an awesome Rper and he add some fun and humor in the illarion community
Yeah I started when I was 11 I'm 15 now (lots of 15 year olds arent there?). I never got blasted for being immature. I might have been a little powergamish at first but that wore off really fast.
@Aegohl Are you from Michigan or something? Cuz i am
As to the topic, maybe it should say something like "IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU ARE A VERY EXPERIENCED ROLEPLAYER. ANY AND ALL VIOLATORS WILL BE PROSECUTED TO FULL EXTENT OF THE EVILNESS AND MISCHIEF THE GMS SOMETIMES LIKE TO GET INTO."
Because we want players of all calibres. The issue is that we can't control everything that goes on in Illarion and, even moreso, we don't want to. That being said, some things that aren't suitable for minors might end up on your screen.
However, we leave it up to the player (and his or her parents if they choose to be involved somehow) to decide if he can handle this stuff.
In which case it could say "Previous Rolplaying experience is recommended just so you arent lost when you start but of course is not required" This still might not help with maturity though. I know a very good roleplayer that is only 11 years old but he is extremely immature sometimes anyway. So it wouldnt help with maturity I think. Which makes it so there's no reason for me to post this reply anyway except to get the thought out.
I started playing pen and paper RPG when I was 8. Age doesnt always determine maturity (within reason anyway!)
Anyway, thats not the point. I think the age guideline is there as a warning to the possible game and RP content, not so much anything to do with player maturity or ability.
RPing is RPing. There are many games with RP quality the same, if not higher than that of Illarion. Stop acting like a disgusting little suck up and get over it.
