Feelings...

Post by AlaineMilan »

While sitting in the bed Alysha could hear the wind blowing outside. Next to her lays Marius who broke his leg badly. When she takes a look through the room she can see many injured people who try to sleep or talk to their friends and relatives. Alyshas skin is pale and her hair is a mess. After a quick fixing with a comb she stands up and walks outside the castle. A smile comes upon her face when she meets Caitlin outside. This woman means everything to her. She trusts Caitlin and would give up her own life for saving her when it is needed.
Caitlin introduces her to two new students and gestures her to sit together with her at the campfire. After talking with Caitlin and Alysha's brother Pendar appeared and wents away with his fiance. This was the time to get to know Sjerin, one of the students. She walks up to him and leans against the wall. Her brother sits together with his wife at the river and a man leans on a tree. While talking to Sjerin she looks to the man at the tree. Sjerin notices it and whispers to her: "What do you suppose he's doing over there?" She looks at him and answers: "A spy maybe, but I like to talk to him. He seems to be interesting." Just when she overcomes to talk to him he walks away. "Okay, too late. I`m going on a walk then" Walking through the streets Alysha becomes angry with herself. "Why didnt I just go to him?" In Trollsbane where the ruins are she found him walking by and starts to talk to him. He is like a little mystery in her eyes but she has this strong wish to talk to him and to not let him go, because she feels some kind of connection between them. Although he said that he might be dangerous she didn't think of not trusting him. Alysha enjoys to listen to his deep voice as suddenly a skeleton appears. Conner, thats the name of the man, tolds her to run and gets hit hard by the skeleton. Many undead creatures appear in the town and both of them run back to the castle where you can already hear someone screaming "Town under attack" Conner is badly wounded and dont like to be treatend by Alysha, but this stubborn woman dont give up and takes care for his wound. More and more injured people came and she runs from one to another. After helping Damien she finally got some rest. This day was different than the others...one of the men died and Alysha couldnt do anything, this was the first time for her. Sadly she talks with Conner who tells her to sleep. Although she is really stubborn he won and Alysha had the first long sleep since a long time...

Alysha sits in a corner in the druidhouse with Caden in her arms and can't stop crying. "No, why did this happen? This can't be true" Caden cries aswell as if he feels that something is wrong. She looks down to him and strokes his face. "I`m going to take care of you from now on. You already know me, Caden." He looks at her with his big eyes and stops crying when he saw the slightly smile on her face.
Farel asked her to take care of Caitlins son and she agreed because she loved Caitlin. She may wanted that Alysha has an eye on him. Suddenly the young medico remembers the promise she gave her. "Alysha..if I am busy somehow...or if I...die one day..I want that you become the leader of the circle" Thinking of her words she shakes her head and whispers to herself "How am I supposed to do this? I can't even live without you by my side and now I have to replace you" She wipes away a tear and thinks of Conner, the man she is fond to in a strange way.

Conner Rapthar leans against the tree, his hood up, noticing a lass opposite of him looking to him from time to time. He sits patiently, siliently, listening, he finally hears her name "Alysha". He remains at the tree a long while, listening to all the talk about the castle, he finally stands, and leaves toward trollsbane, he thirst needing quenching. He goes to the well within trollsbane, pulling up the bucket and dipping his hand in, taking a sip from it when a notices a female form to his right. Conner looks to the lass and they begin a short conversation as he leans against the well. Talking to this lass had some how made him speak, actually speak with somone in a long time. He let down his hood once about her...he let down his hood, something he had not done in a long time. Thier conversation was cut short by a skeleton who charged them. Conner stood and met its charge head on with his blades, though he knew he could not stand toe to toe with it, not without his armor. "Run!" he had told her as he tried to stall the skeleton. Conner fell and was wounded, though he fled with Alysha to the castle, at which the battle was about to be waged. There was something to this lass he came to understand, something different than most. He was by her side much durring the battles that were to ensue, he wanted to be there, to protect her.

Conner looked to the sky after he last saw her, sobbing. He had tried to comfort her with little success. She had lost her best friend and the sad thing was, it should have been conner. He cursed himself, and he cursed Caitlin for doing what she did "Dravish! you owe me something!" she had said, and that , that alone had saved Conner's life, only as conner looked to the sky did he understand....if he would have stayed, they could have sacraficed him...and not her. He laid apon the grass looking to the sky, wondering why the gods had saw fit to spare him, he merely shruged and closed his eyes, one hand within the folds of his cloak. His hand ready for any that would dare wake him.

The elf sits in the lands near the village of Varshikar, not far away from the ruin, his eyes closed, thinking. He was wounded a few times, but at least he managed to keep the attraction of the undead, fast beasts for a while - which started to show up in large groups each time, in an organized war line, cutting through any mortal defenders like a scythe cuts through wheat.
The last days have been bad, very bad. And the worst thing : he was unable to foresee it, unable to protect those who needed. Unable to protect even Caitlin, seperated by the raging undead that came from inside the castle, and from the outside, since the doors were unable to be held against these beasts.
With the magic lying asleep, he felt useless, felt a big hole inside that nothing could fill. Only the steady call of the thin, blue tattoed runic band around his body, which grew stronger each day, its spirit swinging with the dormant rune powers, was able to calm his own thoughts these days.
Damien removes a few last bandages, due to his elven ancestory, without the wounds leaving any scars behind. This human female Alysha had removed his armor and his shirt, and humans could have seen the band before he was able to tell it to hide, or to cover it as usual - mo matter although. Noone asked disturbing questions, they seem to have been far too busy to care about such things.
Caitlin was dead. He felt sorry for the poor Pendar, nothing he could do for him, or even her, which was worse. Another good friend who went fast during hasty times. Another one of the few persons he almost trusted, who even knew a few things of his past, was gone - and it could continue. He almost felt like crying himself, but with centuries of trained discipline, he turned his thoughts to other things. Did his apprentice survive the attack ? She was too easy to enrage, would loose herself in combat. She must have been somewhere near the castle due to this planned event - music, with a lizard and a human, or so he heard. Can only be disharmonic, but who knmows... Three bananas... Damien chuckles at that thought. Jesters, altogehter, but a jester is a wise man in dark times. They should be fine, he could not waste any more time on searching, or jesting around himself.
After thinking about past and present, the elf turns his mind onto the shadows that lie ahead. Turns his view to the castle, the holes in its walls like open mouths, its walls singing with a spirit of its own, created for battle, demanding for blood to be spilled.
With this mana well depleted and cleaned, and the sword from it destroyed a while ago, there was still another source of power, but deep below. A source which he needed to communicate with, to find a weakness of these invincible liches that grew more and more. A source that he could perhaps turn against these liches, or that could even contain the knowledge to defeat them. He would pay the price, if necessary, which was the duty of an elder. What a stupid idea to let the others elect him... perhaps pride, at that moment. Pride is the first step to doom, but he would prepare for every situation he could think of, fulfill this duty without hesitation, and then find a way to survive it, als always.
But for that, he needed a clear mind. No single emotion must be allowed to distract him, even the grief for the death of a friend will have to wait.
Damien closes his eyes, and starts preparing himself. After centuries of exercise, it is easy to him to quickly find the inner balance, singing in harmony with the natural flows of magic that run through his surroundings and his own veins, pulsed by his heartbeat, and even the ruin's own, dark-mooded and almost depressive mind. Focussing on his own mind, locking everything surrounding out, he repeats the ancient elven mantras, focuses on their meanings, invoces every ounce of his own conscience, to concentrate on that which is necessary, without every disturbing thoughts : "emotions are the death of the free mind. I will become my emotions, become one with them. The emotions cease to exist, my mind is free... emotions are the death of the free mind..."
A few minutes later, the elf stands up, with a blank expression on his face, ready to prepare for whatever is necessary. He puts on what is left of his grey clothes, and pulls the torn hood deep into his face. He will need a new one, as well as an armor. His mind starts calculating the necessary ressources for the journey, knowing that the support of potions and backup materials may be too low, calculating methods to expand these. With a few quick steps, he walks through the village, examining the castle, greeting it. Yes, an own mind, fascinating. A sheep or a pig could calm it the easy way. The meat can be used afterwards, it only cares for the slaughter. A good solution.
Damien hears his stomach grumble. Astonishing how weak the own body was to such simple things, he will have to use precious time to eat. Disturbing, but necessary.
With quick steps, the elf walks towards Troll's Bane.

The raindrops knock against the windows of the druidhouse while Alysha listens to the regular breathing of Caden Fayed. He is a piece of Caitlin and knowing this makes Alysha feeling a bit more comfortable. She mutters to herself: "I hope Pendar can do the preparations for the funeral. He has to be strong now." With a slightly smile she remembers everything she went through with Caitlin. She always went in trouble when she was together with Caitlin. At Alyshas wedding they went to the north and fought against skeletons until they found a goldmine. After this they nearly missed her wedding. Her first lesson started with lots of fun. They sewed a ham with a needle. This looked really strange for those who walked by. Caitlin was by her side when she was very ill. She listened to her problems and gave always good advice. When Alysha had her exam Caitlin spoke to her students to give them new hope. It was so touchful that nearly everyone cried. "I`m going to prepare a speech for your funeral Caitlin. I hope you like it. Caden cries a lot. Maybe he gets his first theeth. I wish you could watch him growing up." A tear rolls down her face. "I miss you Caitlin. You were my best friend and I don't want to live without you, but i have to. For Caden, for the druids and for you."

She walks through the druidhouse and searches for the colors she once made for painting the wall and catches a pergament aswell. Mainly she uses the black color. After a while she finished the picture which shows the face of Caitlin and pins it on the wall "I know you are always by my side. I`m not alone..."

Sitting at the table next to Caden, Alysha watches the picture she drew. "I wish you would be here." She stands up, goes outside and looks at the sky with a slight smile, thinking of Conner. The way he looks at her makes her feeling better. She can still feel his lips on hers, kissing her softly while stroking her cheek. Yesterday was the first time she was really close to him. He makes her forgetting the pain, which she feels when she thinks about Caitlins death.

Her feet carry her slowly inside the building where she goes to Caden for waking him up. In the brown cupboard Alysha finds some clothes and dresses the child. "We have to meet your father now, Caden"

The wind goes through her hair as Alysha stands at the parapet of the Grey Refuge again. She looks down to the water and sighs."If he wouldn't have take me back I wouldn't be here anymore" A tear runs down her cheek. "I argued with my sister a lot today. I don't want to loose her nor him. Why must life be so hard?" She remembers that her sister Aly went up to the roof and Conner followed her and talked to her. Alysha don't know what they were talking about, but her sister was really angry with her then. "I`m not as strong as you Caitlin. I give my best with Caden, but I have many other problems."

Conner looked to the two, alyssa and Alysha. He let them be moving outside the castle when Alysha came out crying, placing her head apon his shoulder. He knew something had to be done, how could someone make Alysha this way? He moved within the castle and followed Alysha's "Sister" to the the roof and tried to speak with the lass, she refused.

"You will speak with me. She has lost enough for one lifetime, she will not loose her sister as well."

And thus the arguement between the two began to the point where Conner Refused to let the lass pass back to the lower level untill she let him help her with her wound apon her arm and speak with her about her "sister". As a result, Conner found a dagger to his throat for no tmoving aside
"If you wish me let you be, then drive it home."
He had said more than once to the lass, wanting to know if she was truely as cold hearted as she made him think she was. She never moved the blade into him, he had been wrong. Conner let her be up apon the roof once a youth appeard, he moved down below, and leaned against the wall of the castle, watching Alysha hold Caden within her lap, a small smile found his lips. Untill the lass appeared again with the youth and said something that upset Alysha to tears. Conner watched Alysha run off and he cursed the lass that dare make her cry ...

"Cause her no more grief you heartless toad!"

Conner looks to the sky remembering what he had called the lass, he regreted it of course, yet would never admit to such. The two talked for a while apon the room of the castle, Alysha and Alyssa. They seemed to once more "sisters" but Conner, looking at teh sky remembering the events doubted that it would last, and he knew he might very well be the cause. He looks to the sky with questioning eyes.

"What do I do?" He asked into the darkness of night.

Conner looks to the sky, remembering the past days, waking up, walking through a routine. Aquiring leather, aquiring thread, making shoes and taking the long journey to GreenBriar. He felt it, the feeling that he had not felt for a long time, the longing to see Alysha and speak with her, just to see her. Everything was falling back into routine and Conner felt it...distastefull. He looks to the sky knowing that he had had a routine for a long time, to long, befor he met her, and now something was making his sleep restless, he missed her. Conner sighs still looking to the sky, laying down apon his back. The days had grown long and his mind wandered, from Alysha, to Pendar's child, to the events of the past few weeks.

"Why now? Bloody hell....nothing is the same."

he asks into the endless dark that is the night sky. He sighs and closes his eyes, making yet another attempt to sleep, knowing it will most likely be futile but trying never the less.

Conner gently carries the sleeping Alysha in his arms to a bed within the castle and lays her down gently. He looks to her peacefull , sleeping face. He leans apon the table near to her bed, looking to her, his mind racing.

"How could a lass have such an effect on me.....this cannot be. I have not felt this way for some time."

He sighs and leans against the wall instead, he himself begining to get drowsey, his places his hands within the folds of his cloak as he falls into the darkness of sleep. thinking that one last thought again.

"How could a lass have such as effect on me?"

Alysha opens her eyes sleepy and finds herself in a bed, Conner next to her laying on the ground in a deep sleep.

"I guess you followed me"

Her lips curve a warm smile and she thinks about yesterday. He didn't tell her the whole truth. That's why she left the tavern, keeping him sitting at the table, so that he could think about her words.

"I hope you thought about what I have said to you my dear"

Conner sits against a apple tree adorning the yard of the grey rose castle and looks to the sky. He eye, something about it different than a few days befor. It looks to be without emotion, as his expression does. He looks to the ground remembering all the had transpired.

"You still have your choice. " Conner had said,
"I can not be together with someone while i feel for another....perhaps even more than i do with the person im with." Alysha had replied.

Conner Whisperd as he left the tavern earlyer this night "Then you have made your choice."

And thus had started Conner's transformation into what he was befor he had met Alysha, alone and uncarring. A lad had approached Conner as he leaned on the wall of the shop asking "what is wrong" but Conner Simply replied "Keep your distance."
When the lad rufused on multiple occasions Conner Drew forth his drow blade. As to did the lad draw a sword. The bout was short at best, Conner had not been hit once while the lad had ben to his knees with only a few quick swipes of Conner's blade.

Conner had asked for Alysha to aid the man he had just severily wounded. But in the end she refused and said "I have saved your life many times befor, Conner, you should know what to do."
Conner had whispered into the wind as she remained "if only you had not."
But at teh time all he could say was "Likewise." For indeed he had stayed off skeletons for her, and she had helped him recover from battle wounds many times.

Conner looks to the sky and whispers into the wind as he sits against the tree outside of the grey rose castle .

"If only you had let me die. None of this would have happened....and both of us.. would be better off."

The night is dark and quiet. Alysha sits near the river, her feet in the water. She is watching the stars above. Slowly she closes her eyes and sighs. In her inner eye, she can still see what happened before, remembering, thinking. She can feel Conner's anger, his anger that arose when she told him about her feelings.

"He does not understand," she thinks, says it aloud as if talking to herself. "Maybe, he will never."

Silence arises again as she stares into the water, then watches the stars again. She sighs. "And i cannot do anything against it...I just don't want to hurt him."

Alysha's heart starts to race when she thinks about him. She just want to be alone for a while, so she can think about her feelings. She didnt decide for anyone, just for herself. But after what happend yesterday with Conner and that guy Alysha feels that she made the right decision.

"Maybe he is going to...change again"
