this is for when the age update comes out. i am a fighter but i cant learn other skills like carpentry, its fine for now but when my character grows too old to fight i would like to be able to learn a different skill.
1. is it possible anyway
2. could this be a new update?
you can learn whatever skill you want... all you need is someone to explain it to you and the tools you need for the skill.
i'm a fighter and i can also brew, smith, mine, chop trees.
not officialy but a bug makes it possible ... but for me its easyer to go kill some skelatons at the graveyards second basement floor and steal their plate armor.
but at start i coldent make snake swords and now i can so. all takes time ...
and i guess when you have your carpenting tools all you need is wood wich is the easyest thing to get in the whole game.

I have some different skills. It works. Just train a lot. And make not only one kind of handles. Try the other available things too. Usefull things or not. And don´t try it, when youre too tired to learn something.
Yes, you need to be able to learn...you'll learn faster if you're fully refreshed on "Mental Points" as somepeople call the skill capness...
Carpentry does take a while. Make the first staff (you might not see it yet, but just use the first block in the submenu and you might make some) or flails. Both are rather useless, but seem to be better than the handle options for learning on i think.
Nymus had herblore, carpentry, smithing (from taking craftsman at beginning), peasantry, lumberjacking, etc...Its just all about continously doing the skill. Spend your whole time IG doing one skill, rather than 5, and you'll notice a difference faster.
And believe me it can take a REALLY long time to get to the next level of items. But just keep trying and you will get there. The first new level of items doesnt take way to long to get to.
Also, any more posts about how to make things should probably go to the stickyed thread called "where to buy, how to make". It's in this forum. If I didnt say this I wouldnt be surprised if a gm did sooner or later.
That is quite low... you'r going to have to work A LOT to get up to a respectable level..and even then the items will be of bad quality (yes just like Eliron)
I cant give you inside information. however if you'r crafting, you use the dexterity and the skill. You can create more complex items after training, but their quality depends on the dex and the skill. since dex is fixed, yoou;d better create a good dex character for a crafter. My best crafter has low dex, and you'll find problems in the future.
