I hear about dynamic quests given by NPC's, unless it's only given out once, please don't do this, this is why I quit Runescape, it didn't feel like an actual quest and in the end it made quests quite dull, this is because it had a feeling like someone had alreadydone this and you aren't really doing anything, please don't flame me.

I agree with you totally.

IMHO quests should be something one or a group of people can do... depends on who gets it first.

Example : an NPC wants to get a rare emulet which can be obtained ONLY by killing this creature. You meet your friends, and everyone goes to kill this creature. First person to return it to the NPC gets the reward, regardless whether 5 or 50 people know about it. Or you can kill the guy carrying it to get the reward instead, giving some Rp.

Well, with dynamic quests it can be so. A simple script for the NPC to want a certain item and how to find it, after receiving it the quest cannot be done again. There can be a few NPCs who want to be fed, want a new hat or whatever, and once the quest is done it cannot be repeated until a GM places a new NPC. The script can be rather easily modified to change key words or items the NPC will take. One you have a 'template' NPC, I imagine it wouldn't be hard to create a great deal of the more simple quest NPCs. This can take a workload off of GMs, while letting them work on bigger and more complicated quests.

There will be no quest "Kill the great demon and get the uber-powerful-holy sword of pure pwnage"

You know what i'm talking about.

Just small quests like, carry some COMMON items to an npc, who needs it.

Quests should only be done once?
I do not know who would write these quest's? For one persons enjoyment.
Coming up with the idea and npc dialogues can take well over an hour for any quest more than fetch and carry.
The extra map work and subsequent update another hour.

So the simplest quest you would do once if you got there first takes 2 hours to put togther.
I dont think that would be time best spent or rewarding to the majority of players.
Instead "class" specific quests, quests that make sense to be done regularly are what is aimed for.
Also npc's that give quests relative to locations on maps something like what was done with the red keys and crypts.

The beauty of the new script is that npc's can do as much or as little as wished. So where as a npc wont be spawing a demon army, they could 8)
So everything from simple fetch and carry to npc controled dungeons become possible.
Certainly not a question of flaming how ever I think this community is more mature than runescape and that through trial and error we could certainly do something exciteing to make the game world more alive.

I play Runescape now and again. Sometimes with other Illarionites who are likely in the closet about their playing Runescape. Sometimes it's fun running around like a retard and bonking things.

I play WoW for that. Except I'm the priest, so replace "bonking things" with "healing things to death".

Hmmmmm, so if you healed a zombie with holy healing power, would that do damage to it?

I just started, although I'm thinking of mainly playing so I can sell chars and stuff for real $$ as I'm way too much in debt, and any extra money that I can make, especially from playing games is good.

They call it an MMORPG; but you should drop the R. It is one of those games which allows everyone to try all quests with each character; allos you to wear flared jeans and have green skin. Oh and allows you the name "Cuteperson 99999"

Just say no...

I played runescape for about a half hour once and I thought my head was going to explode with PGS (pathetic game syndrome). I would rahter play Pokemon....the card game......with a ten year old. Sorry to those who play it. It is just my opinion.
