a poll to help brighten our experience....ya mopies

OK, I have been playing for about 2 months now and I keep noticeing these posts about how Illarion has declined and about the old good players. From the "getting to know you" thread, I know you are all mostly happy people, but when playing ig all I see are deaths and attacks and arguements, all are good rp and all are fun in their own way but I think we need to do some things that are fun for us and our characters. I mentioned some of these ideas in a post awhile back and I have been thinking about them since trying to figure out the best way to do them. I want to present my ideas to you and see what you think. Are they good or bad, can you think of things to make them better, and would you participate if they took place? As I always say, I am new to this and these may be bad ideas or they may have been tried before and failed, if so tell me. I just want you all to enjoy the game as much as I do and maybe as much as you did when you finally found Illarion. Well here goes:

1)Scavenger Hunt
Ok this is how I would think this could work. A post in the forum about a scavenger hunt to take place on some day. Probably on the weekend as that seems to be the busiest days. It would tell where and when to start it and tell the approximate run time of the hunt and that the items in the hunt will be listed at the start of the hunt. On the day of the hunt, a post on the forum listing the items and the ending time. This is where I need the most input, the list of items. I think the list would be something that one person would be able to get in the time period, but they would have to hustle. It would be best if it combined items that would encourage group hunters, maybe something for a carpenter to make and a smith to make. Also best would be things that would be hard for everyone to find in the time frame to prevent ties. My example list would be: 10 donf blades, 10 hops, 10 entrails,3 bottles of beer, 100 grain, 10 axe handles, 10 copper ingots,1 strawberry cake, and 1 pile (? piece? handfull?) of sand. I still haven't fully explored the island so I am not sure what would be best. The hunt official(s) would be waiting in Eliza's shop to see everyones list at the end and award the prize. As for the prize, there are several options that could be done. One is to make a cash prize award, another is to maybe (with a gm's help) make a unique trophy of some kind. The trophy would be best as it would hopefully discourage people from hoarding items to have at the time of the hunt. A trophy could also be used to pass on incase everyone liked the hunt and wanted to make it recurring. This is the best way I can see of making it work, what do you think?

2)Profession Contest
I know this was tried not to long ago, and I don't think it had a whole lot of success (not from attempts by the initiator). I think it may work better like this. A contest official would post on the forum the list of contest rules and say that all items must be turned in to the official within the next week. This would allow everyone to participate, even if they cannot be on during the judging. At the end of the week, the official would show each item in each category to an impartial judge. Only the official would know who each item belonged to to insure impartiality. The judge would announce the winner in each category, this judge would have to be a pretty good player who would know what would be better in each category. A prize would be given in each category, maybe kind of like a pot where every participant would pay an entry fee and these would be given to the winner. The categories could be something like: best smith, best carpenter, best cook, best brewer, best tailor, or maybe best weapon, best armor, best clothing, best meal, best desert. Whatever you think would give the most variation to the entries.

3)Leagues
Now according to Ultimate Illarion (#me bows before Fooser), there is something called "onion ball". I have seen the fields in a few areas, but I have never heard of anyone actually playing. Is this game still played, or has it died? If it is still played, why not make a competion or onion ball league, with games at certain times every week? This would be fun to play and possibly fun to watch (I'm thinking bookie, 2 to 1 odds on *).

Now you may begin bashing my ideas, but please come up with some of your own too. I want to see things that will make Illarion "fun" for the characters too. Also, of course these ideas would have to have a RP background built, not just a simple post on the forum and everyone accept that for a day that our characters dont like or hate each other. There would have to be something to allow everyone to get together and not mess up the current story lines. Well here goes, lets see what you think. :D

I tried to get people excited about onionball again with Mezzletheets, the transdimensional onionball champion, but to no avail.

However, the last monoplanar champion died, and so a new league would have to be built up to provide a new champion. Fooser, of course, will win. I think we all know that.

That sounds pretty cool :) .

However...
With the profession contest, what if someone was a profession that didnt make anything (like a warrior). Would there be like a tournament or something?

Also, Maybe there could be prizes for the top 3 or so. For example, if it was cash the 1st place could get 200 coppers 2nd gets 150 and 3rd gets 100.

If people were more interested in the attempt at the profession contest already posted, it would happen

People are interrested as soon as there are these all-around-the-island broadcasts and other fancy stuff that involves GM-powers. Besides of that, you can hardly move a large amount of players to one spot at the same time (unless you play a ravaging warrior and get smited by all the town's population).

True. And, I wonder why no one flocked to it. It is quite common knowledge that characters tend to forget their entire life and goals and general purpose and reasoning as to why they should not come the second they find out it was an SBS quest. Oh well..I guess you did not know?

Hmm..SBS is your local quest making crew. :) Though it has grown quite inactive over time. This quest was our coming back out of our closet quest. :)

EDIT

And, I doubt anyone knows the exact meaning of SBS. Let me get back to you on that.

Do you need more people for that crew, Misj?

I could play a small role every once in a while, if someone'd give me some ideas

I am not certain about that. I am not leading the SBS you know. :) We will see, though I think we are full.
