A few more ideas.
I have been thinking about this all day and have come up with a few more ideas. As I said previously, I am a noob so this may have been tried before or may not be possible with the current client.
Olympics, Illarion style
In my area of the US, we have several things such as rodeos, fall festivals, and other competions so why not use some of this in game. With the upcoming client update and map updates, make an arena somewhere, maybe put it near Trolls Bane or somewhere relatively central for all. This arena could be used to have our own competitions maybe once or twice an Illarion year. Make it a week long event, with competition for all types of professions. Have archery competions and gladiator type monster battles for the fighters, bake offs for the cooks with gm judges, farm offs where you give farmers say 10 grain and see how much they can grow in a time period, lumberjack competions to see who can cut the most wood in a time frame, carpenter and smith competitions where they can display their best work, and events for everyone together like races and eating contests. If people wanted you could even set up a PK arena, if you adjusted the death penalties. With a little research you could find what games were played at events like this in rl and in this time period. This could be something for everyone to get together and have fun as a group, and pie eating contests would be a great challenge to rp.
Carnivals
I may be mistaken, but I believe traveling performers came to towns and villages in Illarion times and performed for the townspeople. GM's could make a few npc roll into town and set up and they would not have to actually perform, but they could be used in rp as just about anything; thieves, murderers, etc. We could even have a few players who did make a performance, maybe a acrobatic act or a theatre troupe.
Farmers market
Another feature I would like to see in the future is a merket place with stalls for players to set up in and sell their wares. We call them flea markets or farmers markets where I live, but every sat. you can go to the local flea market and pick up some good deals. This would be a great way to promote some of the less desirable or less played occupations. If I was guaranteed a way to show my wares to another character and maybe earn some money from them, I would be more likely to pick a non fighting career. You could make this an occurrence every week or twice a month, just set it up at a regular recurring time that everone could be there.
I know this is a long post, but please read and consider it. As I said I am new so if you feel any of these ideas are stupid or have been tried before or just plain won't work, feel free to bash them all you want, I wont be offended in the least. I am just trying to have more fun in game like everyone else.

Not all of life in Illarion time was spent on such things. People also got together to have fun. While I love playing Illarion, there seems to be a lot of emphasis on intrigue, secrecy, and other heavy things. Why not have some fun too? I propose the following:You want lies, treason, honor, glory, fame, bravery and such things

I prefer the term, Game Moderator. And yes, we are normal players just like everyone else. We just have an extra character that makes sure rules aren't broken, as well as providing entertainment.Ziel wrote:Estralis Seborian wrote:

Game Masters.
Awesome idea, but wasnt it tried a long time ago, with little tables outside the tavern? I'm not sure if that was the reason they were there, but people used them for a little while, then stopped.Tonkin wrote: Farmers market
