The Hungry and the Tired - Royal Points - Go Ziel!
Well, I'm back with another reallity check. Hopefully these arent annoying you guys, but today something just REALLY annoyed me.
The Hungry
This is what hit me first off. See, i was smithing some Ingots and I became hungry. So I went to eat some apples. It took MORE then THIRTY FIVE APPLES to make me stuffed! Does anyone see how totaly obsured that is, if we are going for realistic? I can rarley shovel down a single apple and that would keep me content for hours.
Here is what I think would need to happen:
1. First off make EVERYTHING have MUCH higher foot stats. As I said, an apple can keep me full for a very long time becuase it is fiber. And it takes about 5 hams to fill Capus. Five Hams? Isnt a Ham suposed to feed a family for dinner?
2a. Put in a sick system. While sick you cant do much. Roleplay is about it. How you would get sick is from bad food! An apple might have a worm, it may have some rotten spots in it. After eating a (Very Gross?), (infested?) Apple your Sick Level would raise up to say.. 100%. This means you become Sick, and cant do anything requiring much labor. So mining, Carpentry, Smithing, farming, etc are all off limits. This sickness would last as long as your constitution says it would. Also, higher constitutions (lets say.. 20) would get sick after mabey two or three infested apples.
2b. Sickness and horribly infected food could be detected more easily with Herb Lore skill. Thus having a fighting chance. Infact, it could open even jobs! A perosn could be paid to detect food viruses so that the baker wouldent get in trouble.
2c. Everything having to do with food have a chance of getting bad junk in their stuff! Grain could grow rotten, bread stale, and who knows what else!
3. Royal Points could be implimented. What i mean by this is that if you were to eat say.. A (Very Tastey), (Clean) Apple Pie, your Royal Points would raise alot. (this will be touched on later).
The Tired
Tell me honestly, how many of you go and jog for half an hour then say: "WOAH! Im tired! Im going back to my kitchen and shove two pizzas down my throat and continue!"... no. Not happening. See, Tired and Hungry need to be SEPERATED! No one can say "I'm Tired, so eating will gain my strength back!" See, tired is like our current skill cap. But! Doesnt rely on your skills. Here is what the Ziel says about this topic:
1. First off you need to serpate the food and tired porpotions of the Hunger System, and completly destroy the skill cap. Hunger relys on food, and tired relys on rest.
2. Then we need some work outs! Another section could be added saying: "Physical Conditions". By walking from town to town you work your Breathing. So therefor, you can add Breathing to the list. By working in the fields or smithing, your working your muscel. Therefor, add muscel. By raising these skills your time between Tired Messages will increase and increase!
2b. Walking Vrs. Teleporters.
2ba. Walking. By walking you gain physical strength. But yet, you need to walk great distances to get from town to town.
2bb. Teleporters. By teleporting you raise Royal Points, but no physical condition! The contridiction makes people think before they abuse our items.
2c. Yes, I understand. people are going to say: "What about the resting time? If i want to rest im still using tired points when i walk!" Good point there! However, if you have been working ALL DAY LONG, and you come home. Do you want to go outside and take a walk with your friends, or are you going to go lay in bed and watch TV/sit down and play illarion?? mm.. B! Indeed! You WILL be using Tired Points while you walk, but then again, a tired body requires some nice sit down time. Therefor, by standing in a chair tile you will regian your rest. Now, this gives Illarion time to create benches, and do alot more! This would be a very good thing.
Royal Points - The wrap Up
Now is the big wrap up. I've mentioned Royal points, so here is what i mean.
By walking around the mountains without shoes, and eating apples are you not going to be a poor little bastard? Well, I see some people simply doing just that. So, Royal Points indeed.
Let me put it this way. A Slave ate berries and walked around bare foot. Therefor, he was malnurished and basicly in horrible condition. That is what royal points means, the more you have, the better your body is in, and the more effecient you are at working.
So this gives our people in Illarion two options in their working types. Option A is to work hard work strong, become a better person physicly! Option B is to relax, be happy and enjoy life to the fullest. Both make you a better worker, but at better things! If you are physicaly strong, then it would be good to be a smith. If you are a la-de-dah person, brewing and tailoring would be best for you.

Food values were adjusted to give cooks a role IG. If everyone was filled up by one apple (or one anything) what use would there be for cooks? The values/system will probably be tinkered with for a long time to come to get better balance.
Tired...differentiate between physical and mental. Physical tiredness, ie lack of energy due to exertion, CAN be cured by eating or drinking to restore your body energy. Mental fatigue requires rest or sleep to restore.
At the end of the day this is a game. Too much realism is as bad as too little. There are some good points/ideas here. But the difficulty is finding a balance between realism and fun. At the same time the game is about interaction so the game has to be tailored in a way that encourages/forces this. eg skill cap to stop people mastering many skills very quickly, tools/weapons being made from more than a single component, more tools introduced for different crafts.
Lastly remember what we have now is not the final version of everything. New things and adjustments are coming all the time.
For someone who complains about the skill cap you are suggesting other ways to make things harder for yourself!

I didn't read all of it (do you blame me)
But if there is an infested apple.. in a pile of 20 apples... what are they? infested apples? or is it removed?
Or is in unstactable.. and looks suspicous?
And Ham IS easy to get... 5 ham fills you up, as do 8 bread... so its still not fair enough for cooks.

((i read it all now
))
The problem with stackable items, is their quality goes to pot.. Remember arrows? You make 5 very good arrows, you mix them in a pile with 25 bad.. and you get 30 bad...
Also i have heard that it is hard to code things with time...
Apart from that.. i like the idea,... except for the "Breathing" ect... basically you are agreeing that the attributes should change?
Breathing> Agility
Muscel > Strength

It should be impossible to eat 35 apples. There should be a higher volume value, what says, that you only can eat 5-10 apples without to get stuffed. - I mean this proposal very serious.

The realistic life of Illarion has some laws, which allows, that newbies and poor ones can survive, who have no time and the ability to search for somthing like a baker. Without the laws people with physical troubles (hungry) of their char would have no chance and no fun.
BUT:! There is no law, that you have to eat 35 apples. If you are able to produce better food yourself or to buy, do it! There are lots of new food-item with a higher food values.
no no, this is all wrong, as to lower food values to give cooks a role ingame was useless anyways as a simpleton can just cook his own ham.
So the only people who buy from cooks now are the same people who would be buying food from cooks anyways.
It must be harder to make food such as ham, cooking it over an open flame or make it so cooking skill is needed or the ham will be burned. Same with fish, require them to be smoked.

No i understood the point.. i just commented on your last line.. making fish needed to be smoked.. using skills...
Also, i Disagree with the Royalty thingy; because it can be RPed... EVERYONE knows that the leader of Silverbrand, and Aristeus drink from golden cups; and all know that Salathe is buying jewels at high prices...so do we really need that?

Well...i didn't read the answers, but i read (a part) of Ziels post.
Well:
The food values:
Would be no problem, but i don't like the idea to make you filled with 5 apples for a whole day
The sick system:
This is hard to realize. Because to make more steps, up to "completly filled" we have to start the steps at a lower level, and there is the problem, that you can do not so much work or regenerating hitpoints, as you can now.
This points stuff:
Something like this was allready proposed some times. But the problem is the huge amount of work, that is neccessery to do this. And we don't have the time, currently (you know...this nice little client
)
