Why can't i log on?

Today when i was in the shop talking to people, it seemed that illarion froze, then i logged, now i can't log back in, it tells me that either the server, or my internet is not connected. Well, niether seem to be the case, someone help me please.

The server is currently down. wait a while and when the # of online players changes, you can log on.

alright, i did check to see if the server was up, and it said it was, so, sorry for the inconvience

Well for the future you know: Do not trust the sneaky little online status on the website.

2 good ways to check the server status.
Check which characters are online by clicking on the number of players online in the viewer. If this stays the same for quite a while and/or your character is still listed the server is probably down.
Click on the statistics in the online viewer. This brings up some graphs. If the number of players online is flatlined for a long period then the server is dead awaiting a jump start.
Chances are the server has crashed if you are IG and it freezes for more than a few seconds or you suddenly get booted.
