New/edited class

Post by Pocal »

Now, I'm not sure if this is covered already in the existing powers for priest class but... I'd like to suggest a new class:

Necromancer
  • bad fighting skills
    average magic skills
    average druid skills
    very good priest skills
    bad bard skills
    good language skills
    bad craftsman skills
    bad theif skills
    bad peasant skills
    can learn all necromantic prayers
Thought since people complained about lack of in game villians, this could be one way.

I can also seeing it be a hero's class.

Some necromancers could make a guild to help control the random undead to go away from the city, create undead to protect etc, but of course there is the risk of bad necromancers...

Also, this could then lead to an evil paladin class.

My two cents late at night...[/b]

well, a new "vocation" then...I assume once magic is implemented it'll be around...unless "vocations" will be scrapped.

Things don't work like the original proposals from five+ years ago. Your magic type has no influence on your other skills.

Also the magic system allows a certain openness to the player. Although it is the immediate temptation to max out all your magic skills, you can specialize, and it could be fun to do so.

Also, as a side note, I personally think of necromancers as wizards rather than priests, in a class-based system. In reality, almost all magical traditions (be magic real or not in your opinion) have religious backgrounds but modern works of fantasy have created this fantasy magic that is seperate from religion magic, even as names like "thaumaturgist," "theurge," "shaman," "voudon," etc.. have religion written all over them.

I figured that necromancers would be the priests of evil/death-aligned gods mainly.

But atleast, I think it might be fun to have some sort of necromantic spells/prayers/whatever to play with.
