Valid file types: jpg, gif, png, bmp, tif, swf
Images larger than 250 KB are automatically resized

I guess so, however when I try to upload a bmp or tif it changes it to a jpeg.

my advice wold be use the png format its smaller then a jpg in most cercomstances
