Forum Proposal (Here for lack of proposal board)
Is it possible we can give applying players only access to the Newbies and Accounts boards until their acceptance?
I do not see the reason that they have access to all of the members forums "General -> OffTopic" If they might not be around long. It also might stop certain, nasty, things from happening.

Heres what im thinking,
Every Character is given an forum account. Same name and same password as the Main Account.
The Account
If the account is accepted then you get a forum account with that name. You can only access the Account and Tech forums.
The Character
After you get your first character the Newbies board will be open, you can also read the RPG board.
One Month
After one month you can post inside all forums.
Other
If account/character name is the same, there wouldent be a second account.
Banned accounts and banned forum accounts are seperate and left to the respective GMs.
There will be NO post count and NO post per day in the profile. (post counts act as a goal to some. People think "you want the highest count.")
---
Just some ideas ^_^

I understand where you are all heading with this but I have to argue with it. Not all people have a hard time figuring things out. I actually only posted on the newbies board until about one week after i joined, but I see no reason that people should not be given a chance. There can be alot of posting things on the wrong boards or posting stupid things, but everyone is new at some point. It is not because they are stupid, or because they cant roleplay. It is because they havn't fully adjusted to a place like this. The people who truly want to play this game are the people who will try to fix their 1337 speak. The people who aren't made for games like these will probably fail at them anyways and are very likely to quit a week after they join. It's only polite to give everyone their fair chance at proving themselves to you. If they really like Illarion they will work hard to meet everyone elses standards. If you have only played games like runescape and endless online maybe you would be used to having to fit in a different way. Although those are not the Illarion ways they are the ways most roleplaying websites operate. Sorry to argue like this but I really dont think the whole stupid newb thing is fair. I have been to websites where they give you crap about being new and i'm sick and tired of them. Illarion isn't like those other websites because the people are different. I know you can stop yourself from picking on every new person who posts a thing in the wrong place. If you think back i'm sure you'll all find a time when you did the same things.

I don't feel that is these people are not going to be accepted, they should be on the boards.
Yes there have been some good newcomers, but I think theres been alot more bad then good lately, look at all the accounts that have joined in the past few months, only about 1/4 of them are actual players, 2/3rds of them havent even posted once, and 60% of the rest hang out in the off topic board arguing with me and the other patrons there

I think we should be trying to include rather than exclude new players.
I have seen some god awful "noobs" who have made really bad first impressions turn it around and become usefull members of our little club. Equally I have seen veterans of the game, and forums, turn into mindless buffoons.
Don't whack all newcomers with the "I'm better than you" stick of whackiness+12 because of a few morons.
Some people don't post here because they feel excluded or are set upon if they step an inch over the line. Some don't post because they have nothing to post and don't just want to spam the boards.
One last point. Just because someone argues with you/me does not automatically make them wrong
Help the "noobs" then you both have a chance to learn something. Ignore the muppets (stop ignoring me!).

Most Newbies don't even visit the forum until AFTER their application to begin with, and if all the RP of illarion is in the RPG forum, I Think you had best get in game.Markous wrote:How can any "newbie" get a good view on the RP of Illarion if we exclude them from the RPG-Board, just because they are new?
We won't get any new players then.
Suffice it to say, that IS actually the point.Ellaron wrote:I think we should be trying to include rather than exclude new players.
Thats a good point. But I've seen godawful newbs remain godawful newbs.I have seen some god awful "noobs" who have made really bad first impressions turn it around and become usefull members of our little club.
This happens too, but I find it much more rare.Equally I have seen veterans of the game, and forums, turn into mindless buffoons.
I made this proposition so that this is not nessecary.Don't whack all newcomers with the "I'm better than you" stick of whackiness+12 because of a few morons.
If newcomers have a better knowledge of the game Via the Newbie board and Account boards, it would eliminate the "OMG IA RE NOT CEPTED" posts on the general board, which is where alot of people get out their bashing sticks of unnesecary cruelty.
I want newbies to be better integrated so that all of this flame war, wrong posting, and the ones "Just Passing Through" will not exist, not only that but to RP in Illarion, I think knowwing how to PLAY illarion is more essential then the RPG board.
This is why we already have a Newbie's forum. Some people don't post here because they feel excluded or are set upon if they step an inch over the line. Some don't post because they have nothing to post and don't just want to spam the boards.

EDIT:
@Jappy
The OffTopic exists for stupid and fun stuff. If you don't like the Off Topic board why don't you rename the damned thing to "Adult Discussion Group with On Topic posts and Legimately Logical Debates."
