Hello sunshine!

I look forward to serving your general villainous needs. Or even your non-villainous needs. As Rinya beat me to the obligatory introductory forum post, she will be publicly flogged at 18:00GMT.

Your second-newest gm,

Papoitsi

Welcome.

And a quote from Aegohl: "I am so good they will need two GMs to take my place".

It looks like as if that was a stupid remark.
1) This is a matter of time zones. With Aeggi leaving we had one english speaking GM left, Japheth, who is living in Europe.
2) There were 3 german speaking and Japheth before our two new GMs joined. That makes 3:3.
3) Most germans speak english, whereas most non-german-native-speakers do not speak german.

But if you want to fire some english speaking GMs, we can do so. Who should be the first one?

Mwahaha! Galim has revealed our dark plot.

As martin explained, with Aegohl resigning as GM (and becoming map editor), we had not a single non european GM left. There are few persons outside europe who speak german, you know. Thus, we needed at least one new GM, the more, the merrier. It is a great win for the team to have those two members; it is now 3:3, a good mixture I'd say. German is not "underrepresented", taking into account that most developers are either germans or austrians, too.

Also were as the quests may be in english or often a German english mix. We still see far more quest activity in a convienent time zone for German players.
Usually around 8-9 gmt lately, I know this as I can seldom be on that early :). Not complaining at all though.
I think we will see quests at more varied time now,
Sounds good to me

sorry, but the most quests about Gerard for example were AFTER 9. often at 11. that is too late for german players. I wasn't able to attend 90 % of the gerard quests because they were too late for me. same with the elder tree things. and so on.

The elder tree thing was Aeghols quest, so yes was pretty late.

Most of gerards quests were around 8 GMT, being around 10 your time I believe. Which is generally when the server has most players. I recall asking him to move back a few to 8:30-9 so I could attend, hence why i am pretty certain of times.

How ever it still seems to me at least that most quests have fallen in times more suited to european players. As i fall between america and european time zone, due to the hours i play i dont mind either way.
Just an observation from my part, is all.

I remain hugely greatful to the german players and staff who go to such lengths to RP and interact with me in english in game, in the forums in general.

Change that to being around 10 our time :).

Yes to clarify, i tend to play strange hours usually around 11-12 our time to 3 on wards :)

Hope that clears up what i meant
yes we are in the same time zone, until your daylight saveings changes. We spend half the year in same time.

Actually, my quests were too early. We had a spike at that time in players so I had the option to introduce quests at what was probably around 6 to 8 am over in Germany. There were both English players and German players involved, and I was happy with that situation.

Edit: now that I think of it, 6 to 10am is more like it.

Ever since you complained at me previously Galim about not having quests early enough, I've been trying to have them all at/around 8pmish which is 9pm your time. I don't think that time is too unreasonable. Considering that I am entirely English speaking, I think that time is the most suitable for quests involving me as it is when most of my demographic can play.

Anyway, let's not de-rail this topic-

Welcome Papoitsi!

And, I just want to point out one thing, where it concerns quest times:

Our GMs are human. They are wonderful to us, in that they try to accomodate the maximum number of players that they can. But if they look at the server stats, and online playing spikes at a certain time, and so they try to run quests in that time, how can you turn around and say they aren't taking the players into account?

Similarly... our GMs are human. They aren't paid for this, it isn't their job. They run the quests *when they can*. And timezone doesn't necessarily play any effect on when they can... I'm in central US timezone... -6(or -7) GMT... but I'm usually on in the evening/night/early morning my time, not in the daytime. I usually go to bed around 6am my time. If I were in the position to run a quest, most American players would complain that it isn't at a convenient time for US players... yet I'm *in* the US. So, *where* someone is located is not as important as you might think.

The much larger issue, is language... and as someone pointed out, *most* german players can at least speak passable English... there are very few who are completely left out in an English-based quest. However, most Emglish players cannot speak German... and so far many people would be left out in a German-based quest. Which is not to say that there should *never* be German-based quests; quite the contrary, I think there should be. But, it does make sense that there are *more* English based ones.

I hope this made sense and didn't sound too bitchy, it wasn't meant that way.

By the way, the public flogging of Rinya has been postponed for a week due to torrential rain. All hail broke loose.

I will do my best to run quests at different times--especially on the weekends.

I am highly confuzzled, and have already heared many suggestions on our new GM....So be prepared.

I hate GMs. I tend to kill them if I do not like them. You better try hard to get me to like you.
