Just a few points,
The role of captain of the guard has been polotical one since pendars arrival on the island. As such what ever force the guard may hold becomes a point of political leverage. As would have been the case if the our friends in the north handnt agreed to hand back the desert for fair compensation :P.

In reality though we are not in Illarion fighting over seas the island is small and what ever the threat is sits right on your door step. I cant imagine a miedeval malitia "what the guard really is". Not stepping up to answers threats to there town.
Also we should propably be honest and say for the months I have been playing the guard has not numbered over 5 active players. Usually around 3, Currently I suppose the guard contains 3-4 skilled warriors. Were as it may be strange that they run out and leave the town abandoned I doubt the possibly 3 logged in really make that much difference to a war occurance or outcome.

Last but not least, guards like all warriors in Illarion fight at any chance they get because it is what they do lol. It is a core reality people play this game to be ammused, much as people will change there rp inside out to partake in quest. So people with fighting skills will always look for ways to use them.
Its the nature of the beast

I would like to protest at this reference of the guards being war mongers. We are far to busy womanising, drinking and hideing for our duties to also go war mongering.

I agree 100% with Farel, except for perhaps the womanizing part ;)

Many new monsters it's good. But, if I will start my own war, I would be banned from a city :) . It's not so easy. I have one more idea. GM's could made a city of darkness, where could be a darklord and his dark armies. It should be a powerfull and scary city with strong guards. Sometimes, armies could leave city and attack others. They could catch some women and then warriors could go to find and release them, or get some treasures. Then we all could unite to attack this city.

1) Catching women... If anyone tries that with devrah she'll knock their teeth out

2) It would be too complex for an AI...

Kl'urk "who i would hire" not to mention Ladir and more I could enlist.
Would pwn you peeps
Trollsbane remains the military force and dont you forget it lol
NEITHER Berengar is with the town guard NORE on the Trollsbane citizen list. He would of course not hesitate to help Pendar if surrounded by a bunch of enemies with an arrow in his chest but he definately isnt going to war with Stephen and his knights.
Just wanted to make that clear

As for the war thing: I d prefer plots, conspiracies, etc. that might lead to a war in the end and not GM made skirmishes without any background, those drow attacks were fun though... :D

Dont make a pun about bisexuals are gays until you accualy know one.

About the whole war issue, we get enough of it. Wars are boering by any means. All they do is let guards sit on bushes, and some being walk in, the guard talks to him to get out of town, he grunts and says NUB and then the guard kills the being. Nothing too interesting. Everyone is sitting in the bushes even if there is supposed to be something bad happening. But if there is a quest mind you, the sheep stop grazing from the bushes and run in herds to the location.

My two cents, im goiong to bed. Good morning everyone

The town guards are not gm powered. A group of individual players who train their characters, supply them can beat the town guard any day.

I feel highly underestimated here. firstly, my group will pwn you all, frankly because we're not stupid enough to keep a member list posted in plain veiw, and what a sword can't manage two bottles of poison will certainly even out

As to the war, how long has it been since the last time there was a full scale war, a long long while, but it's only fun to a point, after awhile everyone will get tired of heavily rped battles and go back to the world of hack and slash and up come the complaints yet aagain. one day i promise Illraion will have a tasteful well done blood letting. it just won't be any time soon (i hope i hope)

Funny, I'm sure Misjbar was Bisexual himself :P

Plus, is the correct term for 'gays' not homosexuals? As I'm sure gay is another word for happy. That's why most people are or have been gay. FACT!

I am pretty sure myself Hermie.

Gay is happy, fact.

On the side, wars can most certainly be great. Though I must agree with the statement that quests are a little too overattended by people whom you should never see there because it does not lie in their character (WOW, guess why MISJ is hardly ever there).

But I must say, I have seen a war or two whom have been very intriguing.

Sorry for any offence done Erik. But your right, gay is not a word i usaly use.

Apparently no matter how hard i try i cant do anything right -.- damn i hate my age. Nor this post will bring me joy as Irania will make some comment about Kasume.
Is there a way to get a raise in this small family owned buisness of a forum? Am i realy that insificant to my peers. Do i realy just need to drop dead?
Why am i depressed over ever little mistake? Becuase it just cant be small. Have i ever made a small mistake in my time here? No. I dont accidently forget im holding a sword, i forget my characters name. Or mabey it is the mangifing glass named "The Scene" that minipulates it into a elephant compared to a rat, smashing over every aspect of self respect my pathetic frame can hold.
Why cant i break away from the forums? Is it my unknown love for a good hellraising, or mabey it's the aftermath were everyone spits on me. I dont know but one thing is for sure - dont come near me if you want a good reputation.

Could we have a war THIS way? you write who will be fighting, you fight away from everyone else.. who gets killed... dies...

Person who kills all in the list wins... the end

Please..

There will be wars ladies & gentleman, of that be sure. And when there are certain agreements go out the window.

Example :

When the skulls attacked town they slaughtered the citizens to force the rose to leave thier castle.

Word Bro!!! I rule things....lol

Wars can be fun but they are almost on the lower scale of rp conflicts. Intrigues, disagreement and betrayls can often find far more eloquent ways to play out.
Much the same way as i respect "heros/villans" who do not always kill there nemisis on sight. Instead allowing the two to provoke each other and exchange barbs.
The same can be said for groups, allowing conflicts to bubble and plots and betrayls to develope is a far more rewarding rp than gathering on a field and seeing who has had more time to spend raiseing skills.

You rule the abbility to make someone sick (not me.) aswell.
----

Wars.. If there was a war between Trollsbane and Side-B. B and T would each have elected leaders (i think pendar would be Trollsbane). In game if a person had a Rolpleaying time with an a leader, in this case beat and tied up the leader, he could post letters using the war-only forum account to trick the team.

Just a suggestion for any upcomming wars.

You Think?!?!?!?! if anyone other than Pendar represented Trollsbane...it would go to hell..plus. Pendar is the Heart and Soul of Trollsbane.

I agree with Brian. Good rp is allways good. Like today a robber came through trollsbane and stole someones bag, I nailed his trousers to the ground twice with arrows but he kept running..so i caught up again and lifted off the ground, again he ran..this gets rather annoying. It was in town..

So ill go hide before pendar goes and beats syla down for attacking someone in town..

Before the wipe us varshikarians could have beat anyone! hah!

I remember all those times i helped trollsbane...all the personals wars i started...the countless people i slaughtered in trollsbane. All the times i helped TB against orcs....The time when we all huddled into eliza's shop and i saved the day by beating back the bloodskulls nearly single-handedly. All the times i saved pendar ....hrpmh Steffi is so unapreciated

Damn skill wipe..... >< Athian could clear town pretty easy ALONE! Im Almost positive that Varshikar could have beat TB pre-wipe easily.

Oh, no! They found me!

Now, about a war. Well, it could be more interesting if not planned OOC, surely. I like surprises, as many others do. Who never felt joy for an event happening randomly and not OOC planned?
If a war should happen, it will. Planning it, though, and forcing things up IG just to let this happen will not lead to good rp times, in my opinion.
Actually, Troll's Bane and Varshikar ARE in war, a cold war, as always. Who knows when this will explode?

I really think your over estimating how strong Varshikar was. It was 5 people who had maxed skills through various trainings. But Trolls Bane had the Grey Rose who had every Knight maxed skill, the Clan of the Axe was maxed skilled, and Trolls Bane had some guards who were pretty strong.
So really, Varshikar was, is and forever will be a back water kingdom on a back water island.

Varshikar had the bloodskulls.
And truely, what this city needs is just more players.

Whats there to do in Varshikar? Why become a citizen? It lacks anything interesting. You cannot really have quests going on there to attract people because of the tax. The only people who go to Varshikar are criminals and outlaws, and that era of making the bad guy character is over ... were in the era of making adorable children that have lost their parents ..

i wonder if anyone can follow that last bit ..

Fine then, so... what are you waiting to start the war, mate?
Is it more knights?
Is it more skills?

Don't judge the "era" Ig just because that is what YOU see there. Things happens on the backstage, you know.
