Only problem with that is... It wouldnt solve the problem of everyone RPing in TB and not RPing ANYWHERE else.

Maybe if the orc at Varshikar gave out free ice cream cones or something then people would actually go there to RP :P

we worked to hard, plus evil was made in our land, it doesnt bother us ^_^ thats why there is always evil in TB becouse Varshikar is/was a source of evil.

Sooooooooooo!

Back to the destruction of TB

We should bring back the two old demons aswell, i forget their names.

Right, one will never change any rp situation with cheap quests.

Why everyone roleplays in TB:

1) It is in the center of the map

2) You cant roleplay elsewhere because:

Vanima > only elves go there... the shopkeeper speaks elvish
Silverbrand> If you get past the gates its an improvments
Varshikar> taxes.. need i say more
Orc caves > ??? who even goes there
Greenbrair > too much distance from anywhere else.. it will cost you 60 coins in books.. and do what? sell herbs?

The other places are void

3) there are 3 vendors there... who sell most items

So why destroy it?

A lot more people have been RPing in Varshikar actually. I recall the first few weeks after the wipe, now that was dead.

A nice resolution would be to...

1. Build up real governments which actually fit to a medival game in every city.
2. (needs to be done by players partly) Get the same npc value in every city, which, of course, do not all sell and buy the same things.
3. Write all those detailed historys and political systems into a part of the website, which would be a duty to read before getting an account.
4. Let the new players decide where their chars may start, after reading all those detailed and interesting background of the cities.

solves ==> Deciding because of the best ways to earn money, build up a real acquisition to the city you live in (and to the government!).

Seriously apart from the lack of food and the out of the way location and TAXES  I dont see why people dont go there to RP. You've got the ogres right nearby for a good income (selling what they drop).

Although it is kinda small as well... :?

Good idea Irenicus that all would work really good. Looks like we were writing our posts at the same time  .

Hadrian, just because you don't see it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
1) Being in the center doesn't matter when being on a map. Just because its the center of the map doesn't mean its the center of the world.
2) You can go to Tol Vanima, you are an elf. Silverbrand isn't an issue right now, many people are citizens of Varhsikar, ORCS (go figure) go to the orc caves, Greenbriar? HELLO?!?! Its closer than Varshikar!!! The other places aren't void. Again, just because you don't see it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I happen to RP somewhere happily that you haven't listed.
3) Thats a source of trade and economy, it attracts money. Money attracts people, people attract role play. Be a vendor, make and sell things, travel places, become the money that attracts role play.

But to destroy TrollsBane? Thats a bit... um... drastic for this point in the game. Especially since people are still trying to gain back all the skill they lost in the server wipe.

The idea of destorying trollsbane, i assume is a joke.
Nothing would change people would congrigate in a new area and make that a centre of rp.
The problem is the way people approach the game, Criminals want to come into town because all the rp is there. instead of making some rp happen in new areas. People of course playing a game want to logg on and be entertained so they go were the activity is. Regardless of if there character has business there or not.
The issue is not TB or any town it is how "we" collectively play this game.
As to the north for those who do not play characters suited or have not from an OOC position seen the unique rp oppurtunitys Varshikar offers I am not about to ruin the fun and enlighten.
Cuedo's go out to Jeremy and others who are playing in there characters home as much as possible. I assure you in time that hard work will pay off as the good rp in certain areas will draw other like minded players who are willing to spend a little effort and give up a few perks for the emmersion and rewards of breaking the norms in game.

This game remains in a state of flux after the character wipe new names are emergeing and groups forming. Look back in 3-6 months when all is working and the game has restablished it self. Although trollsbane seems to always have had the higher player count as it is an easy place to be. I believe we will have more balanced and unique rp oppurtunitys springing up all over.

I ve always seen Trollsbane as the capital of the isle. Its the largest and oldest city (it even existed when varshikar was nothing but a decayed castle, that the ogres used a as toilet :D ) and therefore has the highest population. I never saw that as a problem though, it just is that way. I wouldnt want anybody to destroy Vienna to make more people move to Graz where I live either

Wow. I didn't expect so much talk since I last posted. One correction I would like to make is that I didn't mean "evil" when I said "villain." I meant that if we are to assume that Trollsbane is the land of the protoganists, than Varshikar is the land of antagonists, hence villains.

I don't personally believe that the words "villain" and "evil" are necessarily condusive to each other.

Might he have just opened a book? I think some type of sound or graphic should go with traveling by book. Just so we know that a person didnt log

Erart, the whole sense of if he logged or used a book just go's to justify the reason for this thread.

For books a system should be introduced that if the person in question is highlighted for attack,, a book can not be used.

that already works for food. you can't eat food ina fight. same can be done for books. of course not higlighted, because this way you just have to "strg-click" on someone from far away and avoid this way that he can use a book. i think too much wrong would be done with that.

You cannot eat while you are in combat mode. But you enter that mode voluntarily by Strg-Click.

You can eat all you want while somebody is hacking away at you - it's just unhealthy. :-)

I agree but not everybody is that bright :)
For books a system should be introduced that if the person in question is highlighted for attack,, a book can not be used.
That would fail, because the person would just hop behind a building and you would lose whatever attack mode you have.

A sound would be more beneficial like a loud *POP* or a *Bang*

But this is kinda off topic, People are going to abuse the orc in Varshikar (Maybe I didnt spell that right) whatever rules are in place, No matter if somebody says "No you cant do that". But a book isnt breaking the rules technically so they will use that, a way to figure out if they did log or use a book would be more beneficial to catching the people, because just logging out when going to be attacked or confronted is I believe against the rules.

I've just re-read this thread from the beginning and found that I have a very basic question:

Why do you consider selling items to the orc trader abuse? Isn't that what traders are made for?

Or is it just that you decided you want to block access to that trader and cannot enforce it? In that case I'd say guard him round the clock - but if someone catches you off guard - lucky for him.

I don't quite understand the argument about using books to run away either. That's exactly what any sensible person would do in an emergency. And remember it costs money. Not being able to use books in combat mode would be easily implemented if you want that - but if a char decides to not fight back and accept the damage you do before he gets away, why shouldn't he use a book then?

As for the RP, I agree that a char should at least give some #me indication about what he/she is doing or how he/she is reacting to being caught in the act. Personally, when my char needs to see that trader, I always try to sneak in and out properly - hiding in the shadows, cecking everything's clear first - you know the stuff. But then I think he was never caught :-)

Hiding in the shadows is not considered good rp, because the shadows arent really there, your character can see into the shadows, its just from looking down from the sky like we do, we cannot see into the shadows.

Just to let you know. Even GM's consider it bad rp and exploiting a technical aspect of the game.

Then you say you sneak in well, we have to go to the age old question of are their guards around when no characters are around? Soon the gm's are going to implement npc guards I believe where certain people can program in a players number and those guards will actively seek out those characters in their certain surrounding area. And if they arent planning on this, consider it a proposal.

The problem with games which aren't fully complete are that you have to make up details...

Shadows exist in RL , so they can be used...its true everyone can see you,.. but they should RP back...

When the executioner threw someone off a roof; the person was standing up graphically ; even if she was on the ground dying....

What there is no indication of, you can make up
