Journal Entries - From the quest

Post by Astral »

I have finally translated the first journal entry that I made on my trip.  More will be coming soon.  Read if you are interested in other lands.

Day One:

Today I awoke early in the day so I could break away from Illarion before anyone was awake.  The sun was still hours from rising across the sky.  My scribe was to meet me at the docks, and as he said, he was there.  He spoke only Azrien, the language of Azaryth, so I was forced to speak that language that I had been learning for so many months before.  We loaded the supplies into the boat and cast off.  I watched as the land of Illarion grew smaller and smaller and I realized just how much I will miss it.  I realized that I may never see it again due to the extreme dangers to come.  After about three hours of paddling the sun finally showed itself.  Bright it seemed at first, but as it ascended into the clouds it grew dimmer.  It has now been a full nine hours since the sun was at its highest point, and it is almost out of sight again.  Right now the boat drifts as we write the rest of this record while we can.  There is a small tropical island ahead, I think that we shall stop there for the night.

Journal Entries

Another entry fresh off my workdesk.  Now I realize how hard it is to translate between these two languages.

Day Two:

Now it is a full two days into my journey.  I started this morning early again to maximize on my travel time.  A quick breakfast of natural fruits and the paddling commenced again, and it did not cease until the sun was directly over us.  This time there were no clouds so we felt the full force of the mid-day sun.  We stopped paddling then to deploy the cloth roof over the cabin of the boat to block the sun.  Then we ate more fruit that we had packed in the morning.  It was sweet and pleasant fruit, therefore well suited for this type of day.  It seemed like another half day before the sun shield became useless, since the sun had gone so low.  We planned to get to a large barrier island just short of the Azrien main continent tonight so in the morning it was only a short paddle to our destination.  On we paddled into the night.  After what felt like an infinite time, the island popped into view, raising our spirits.  We paddled hard again, knowing that when we reached this island we could take a long rest.  another short while and we reached the island and lit a fire, and that is where we sit making this record.  It is time for a rest.
