the last quest i have seen was for my opinon to fantastic.

...a great golden ship some "endlesspowerfull" mages how call them self so powerful as gods..... sry my char can only do what he had do there, laugh about foolishness to think to be with great magic so powerfull as gods. after that i only go back to Vanima.... it was me simpel to much fantasti.... Maybe next time not so great quest, i love littel quests with not so much players and not so fantastic things much more

---

I tend to agree that lots of little bits seem to be better than the 'big' scenes... it encourages RP much better, for one thing. It gives people something to talk about and rumors to swap and things to try and piece together. And not everyone knows everything that happened.

Personally, i like the ones who require streangth, brains, and technique. For example at the ending of the last client right before the char wipe there was talk of a demon who was going to bring his army and destroy all life, this never took place of course, but great battle seens where the towns and races must combin their knowledge and skills to defeat the foe. Since there is really no groups (like the Bloodskulls) who cause chaos, raids, and battles. i personally think the game gets a bit dull because we must wait for the Gms to decide times instead of the actual people who play the game day in and out ( no offince to any on the GMs i am very grateful for all you do to keep eerything flowing and i do know everyones schedules are different expecally when the players and GMs are located all over the world) i know many people will reply to this saying why dont i make my own group but my problem is i do not know the first things about being a leader and for the main part contacting the GMs for their support. what i am sugesting for the quest is a start to a group which has the resource and power to even threaten any on the towns, whether big or small. Personally i also think that the ways of war or even small battles and physical conflicts lead to better RPing for the worriors and also for the craftsman because their goods are needed and they dont throw them out so they can make better and more of them.
this is all just one big idea and i hope you can roughly picture what i am sugesting.

thanks for reading,

Naja..nichts gegen unsere Englischen Mitspieler. Just meine 2 pennys.... oder so

My main problem with the "Adrons Goblet" quest is that I still have a hard time to imagine how how the players are supposed to take a part in it which is more then just watching it happen. But maybe I'm just lacking imagination here.

And I wished quests wouldn't always happen so late at night. But I guess you can't have everything. It's just the best time where European AND American players can take part. :?

I must concur there. Most European players have jobs, and are not available at insane times like 10:00 CET, or even 11:00 CET. For the rest, I enjoy the quests, and the variety that we have. :)

I would like quests which don't just start after 10pm gmt. I wasn't able to attend the last qests because they started so late =( . Why not bringing again some quests which are at 8 pm GMT?

So I am same opinion like Misjbar and Adano.

And yes, it seems german vanished compeltly from the questscene. for most of us german playersit is stil difficult to roleplay in english,so some quests in the german language would be really nice.

**************************

The most important sentences:

It would be nice to have some german quests, because it is so dufficult to play a role in a quest without the option to play like the char would act. To look in a dictionary needs a lot of time and in addition, my one hasen't the right words *g*

In the last quest were so many players involved, and it is so difficult to get the matter, because of the names. You don't know every one and as a result you have got many players with someone(xxxxxx) and you don't know who writes what. To introduce yourserf to all was/is so hard, because of the quantity. In addition your char wouldn't introduce him/herself, if he/she is shy or reserve.

Problem: Playerlimit isn't nice and furtherin and no Playerlimit makes it difficult and giant.

Liebe Grüße/lovley greetings

Das Problem ist das wir derzeitig nur englishcsprachige, wirklich aktive Quest-GM's haben. Die deutschsprachigen haben gerade zuviel mit der Spielentwicklung zu tun.

I didn't participate in the quest about this ship and goblet and the pirates...

My reason?

My char (like everybody else) heard sobbing coming from the tavern and inspite of running right at it (like everybody else did) he just asumed "Oh another drunk, nothing to bother or even look after" and just carried on with what he was doing.

I don't want to critisize anybody, but does everybody always have to run to where noise is coming from?

You could blame it on curiosity... yes but is everyone that curious?

Don't think I'm trying to say people shouldn't participate in quests that might occur (of course it's everybody's own decision to take part or not) but (at least that's my oppinion) sometimes it's good to back off and think twice what your character would realy do and I don't think that some sobbing from the tavern would stop a whole town so everybody stops what he's doing and looks after the noise.

Maybe I simply didn't have any... motivation to participate and looked for a reason to back out, but on the other hand if a quest is held with 10 player chars, all of which have a different way the quest should be solved it ends in total confusion in my eyes.

The issue of language is difficult to say the least and dependent on the GM behind it. Also, there is no way to control what language the mass of noise that comes from players during quests is in.

Yes... I was in the halway when I saw Gerad (possibly, maybe not him...) and his servants enter the room...
Somebody in there said "take out the jewels", which I was the only person to hear. All I heard afterwards wasn't really something I heard, so I'd have to just ignore them. It gave me a small bit to exchange information with.

All comments read.

@Dji: The character is being roleplayed in a "fantastic" manner, quite deliberately.
Adano wrote:My main problem with the "Adrons Goblet" quest is that I still have a hard time to imagine how how the players are supposed to take a part in it which is more then just watching it happen. But maybe I'm just lacking imagination here.
Point taken and I shall attempt to parry it. While it may seem that there is nothing to do but watch Gerard mill about town, many players seemed to fail to notice his assistant straying behind.

Several players seized on this opportunity of roleplay, to try and capture this person and some succeeded. That was the aim of yesterday's event. Now some players are (soon to be) in possession of knowledge of Gerard.

This has only thusfar been the setup of the quest. I'm trying to make this quest more "roleplay centric," as opposed to the generic fight/find something.

@ The time and Language issue:

I'd love to be able to provide quests in German, but it's simply impossible for me. Not to sound mean, but I always had the intention of providing quests for the relatively unrepresented US players. As of recently, I agree that most quests are for US players and we will discuss what we can do to rectify this. Bare in mind, however, that there two GMs who mostly do quests in English, ie, Aegohl and I. Estralis is lucky to be bilingual.

As for the time issue, I will try and perform quests before 10pm GMT in future.

Could we have really frequent small quests... i liked the idea...

Something strange, like a troll walking into the tavern and drinking or something... just to lighthen things up.. no need for violence/warfare/threats/deaths

Just small things that make life soo strange

I actually disagree entirely were as small quests are important. Large quests give players a single point to rally over, rp can be created between players even when the threat is not present as we plot and plan train etc. Basically were as the rp during large quests is often questionable the attitude it creates in game cannot be matched. Just prior to the server wipe when the demon Groar attacked were some of my most memorable times on the server rp wise. Even if the quest to fetch the elements did not hold my interest at that moment. The rp we as a community created around it was amazing.
Similarly this current quest gives people something to talk about with a little luck Gerard will appear to a few people spontaneously, perhaps employ a few of the games rogues for a task or any number of things that will create.
It gives people something to talk about and rumors to swap and things to try and piece together. And not everyone knows everything that happened.
Exactly that.

These large quests have far further reaching implications than the 45 minute rush as every one tries to be a part of them. They do give the community something to rally around. Characters who may never meet a cause to speak and all of us a sense of foreboding that should if we rp well cause all of us with in the game world to knit together as a community and work as one.

Now on to things I would like to see, we have all noted that people drastically change there RP when a quest and as such a GM is present. From all running to a tavern to all suddenly following like sheep through to behaving nearly out of character.
We all need to realize quests are for every ones enjoyment and actually a small part of what Illarion is every player has a right to partake or not as they desire.
How ever announcing every quest to me is unnecessary many players only log on for quests. Sure when we have a huge or history changing quest announce it after all many of us would wish to be there and witness what happens. I really hope we will see more smaller or reward based quests that are not announced to reward players who are just on playing.

I would personally like to see the GM’s adding more danger to quests Japeth I really like this quest idea and have truly enjoyed it no mistake. How ever why Gerard didn’t “smite” me or one of the others blocking him access to the castle is beyond me.
There was a complaint some time ago that quests were to combat based which I agreed with we need both. How ever many of Illarions inhabitants are warriors we make a name and our RP of battles.
So I would like to see some combat quests as well again as well as quests or enemies that actually end up with people at the cross.
I see no reason why when there is a danger people should not learn to stay behind the warriors.
As currently we have a quest and every one mills around with little to no fear of being harmed.

I would also like to see more quests that actually have a negative impact on us as inhabitants of the island, hardship breeds rp of all sorts. I am not sure how the map works but maybe the town could get flooded. We would all have to gather perhaps large amounts of sand for the clean up. This is just a silly idea, How ever parts of the town flooded would allow us to rp cleaning up even with out a GM present and a final clean up with one present.
Things like this could build rp in game :)

I know epic quests are a nightmare to cordinate and make happen but I am a huge fan. I would also like to see quests that call on many skills, something akin to battle happening while a GM's assistant rallys people to go and seek the solution or solve the puzzle.

I am very aware what I have done here is said GM's i want great quests go make them happen now. Expect a few well thought out ideas from me in the near future so at least even if they dont happen I can say I didnt just lay a problem down.

In closeing Japeth thank you for your effort your quest has for me and others spawned some wonderful rp which I am truly thankful for, keep up the great work I am haveing a blast.

A few minutes ago there was a small random event... when nature turned against the people... first bushes attacking then a poisionous wasp...

Even after everything had returned to 'normal'; the players continued to RP it, and action was to be taken...

This is the type of 'quest' ideas i like... also the amount of people who came later new nothing about it...

Suggestion -> If it is possible, make quests happen simultanously, example a joint attack, so nobody could have seen everything

Hmm... I seriously liked today by far.

It adds a sence of anarchy when things happen for no reason, i enjoyed being able to smash that hornet and obtian it's stinger, and the dwarf who attacked a blindfolded ogre.

Whoever engineered today, i request you do the same for every day until you die. :)

True, but the quest needs to resolve in a way which restores a state of relative stability when it's over, unless it is only a part of a huge story arc, like the drought was for example.
This doesn't leave many possibilities for quests which cannot be "won".

I mean in the sense of the quest can be won, but if the players fail in thier tasks, they can lose!

Currently you can not lose in my view, to the ends that a gm will hang a big neon say saying ' Clue here ' to get the players going..

Easier said than done, really. There has been many times during quests that I've had to say to myself "my rp was horrible for that quest!" but you aren't really left with an option to rp better.

There is twenty players talking, all at the same time, and you don't know who is who. From the player's point of view, they can ignore all things not said by someone who hasn't #i'ed them, but no one has #i'ed the GM character or NPC, so you have to try and react to everything that has been said.

Meanwhile, your attention is on what you need to accomplish during the quest, the character you're playing, and a million other things.

To be entirely honest there have been times in quests where I've literally broken a sweat realizing how far I've messed it up (Estralis' Astral Eye quest comes as an immediate memory of such a time, when I didn't know the full details of the quest and I couldn't find the tools I needed and I didn't have a clue what I was doing)

I promise that if it is possible for me to react correctly to your roleplaying then I will. I don't think I've ever announced a quest and that is exactly for that reason--too many people to react to.

Could you please make the Gm's creature #i everyone?

Its a bit hard to understand whats going on...

Even a large demon only appears as someone (XXXXXXXXX) which is strange...

At least name it 'demon' if its not too hard to do so

PS i liked what happened yesterday... woke things up a bit

Well the others i'd immagine did, Nightmare for example the demon was being played by a GM... and yesterday's demon was too intellegent to be computer.. it hid in a storehouse, it attacked those who came near; it even trapped my character while i was walking away...

Too intellegent to be an NPC

Rest assured. It was an NPC. Freaky as it may be, all of those things you mentioned were intelligence coincidences :P .
