Merely an announcement. No reason to find yourself on the defensive...
Jeremy,
I do not mean to speak for our Lord, but your question was unanswered. Indeed; there is much that needs to be done. It is my guess that the most wise thing would be to recruit for our fair City-State.
In the Northern-most parts of our kingdom roam many orcs who would benefit us more as allies than as enemies. Moreover, we have many integral parts of our economy and, indeed, our security forces that need to be filled:
Short of recruitment, it occurs to me that there is very little food to be found in the North. You once took care of this very situation in the past. Perhaps the growing of trees should become a goal for us, yet again.
Your Servant,
Moskher of Varshikar, Advisor to our Sovereign Lord, Aristeaus

In the Northern-most parts of our kingdom roam many orcs who would benefit us more as allies than as enemies. Moreover, we have many integral parts of our economy and, indeed, our security forces that need to be filled:
- We need guards to protect our resources and citizens from outsiders.
- We need expert miners to take advantage of said resources--especially the digging of quartz sand, which, indeed, shall bring profit to our lands.
- We'll need those with interests in the Arcane and in nature, because your VMA is as much a part of what Varshikar is made up of as anything else.
- We need men, tall and strong in the arms, to help us rebuild the castle--and perhaps more.
Short of recruitment, it occurs to me that there is very little food to be found in the North. You once took care of this very situation in the past. Perhaps the growing of trees should become a goal for us, yet again.

Dear citizens of Varshikar, and ofcourse outsiders,
I feel obliged to speak for our lord, Aristeaus, which I do so in aiding Moskher Heszche. Incase lord Aristeaus is found incapable of ruling our lands, and, would willingly give our lands to other, outside parties, the lordship shall pass to Moskher Heszche.
Also, our lands cannot be ruled by one, who has not been a citizen for longer than 3 months. This is to rule out any incapable rulers, and ofcourse outsiders "coupers".
I thank you in advance.

something is seriously wrong with all of you if bickering is the only thing we can do in these matters, first Moshkar, watch how you speak of my wife, her opinion is her own to state regardless of if it offends you or not, so do not ever threaten her. more over, we should get everyone together and get back to work as soon as we can. things have become somewhat harder now and many changes large and small have overtaken this isle. changes that have effected everyone, but if the bond between our people is so transicent that it disolves under even the smallest of stress then i say to those willing to abandon your fellows, leave now and save us the trouble.
The first thing i think we must do is to return home, of course it is a very far travel to a useful merchant, but so has it always been, in order to improve the standard of living in Varshikar we must all work together, not scabble as we do now. think this over, we had a good start, we can continue if we put heart into this work.

This is exactly what I am doing, Athian. Take those words and hold them close to your heart. Once again I return to Varshikar to help her--the child that I helped birth.
However, it was not I who refused to work with another. Read carefully where the threats begin. Rest for now, Corulas family. I will be the one to speak with Lennier, for I have a message for him.
Your Servant,
Moskher of Varshikar, advisor to Lord Aristeaus
a small note is scribbled at the bottom
And, of course, we would not want you to risk yourselves in actually being diplomatic!

Trees grow once more in our fair City.
These trees are the only local source of food for the Varshikari. As such they must be respected and maintained. Anyone caught cutting these trees without permission will be brought to justice. The trees are a Godsend to the Vashikari, no harm must come to them. Otherwise we will all be eating ogre and scorpion again!

The castle is strictly off-limits, due to various dangers involved with it. Only a handful of the authorized are allowed in. Have you not noticed that it collapses under it's own weight?
However, the skull cave is also within Varshikari territory, and yes, either way, if caught, you would have to pay the taxes.
A solution, of course, is becoming a Varshikari, which would allow you freedom of movement. However, the Varshikari people are a hard-working, dependable people who work together to build our village. Such patriotism would be expected.
As a sidenote, I have removed some of the larger rocks and debris from the upper story of the Castle in anticipation of it's rebuilding; however, even with my intense studies, I found the ritual to be quite draining. I fear I cannot go any farther using this method.
Perhaps the stronger citizens among us could gather together to remove what is left, while the weaker could tidy up after them.
Are we willing to attempt such interaction in such a fractious state? Athian? Alexandra? Lysu?

((I'm getting a little bit tired of the people who think the castle is a great place to log off. Do you sleep in construction sites in real life? Just because you are online during a time when other players are not, does not mean it's abandoned. In fact, I have regularly seen activity in Varshikar lately. Think when you roleplay.
I could walk into the Grey Rose castle and log off on Lennier's bed during American hours, quite easily, but if everyone started doing it, do you not think that it would disrupt the rp that is going on there?))

The castle is off-limits as Moskher says. In fact the only people who have been granted access are Athian, Aristeaus, Fooser and myself. It is far too dangerous and not even you, Moskher, should go in there for any reason. Your loyalty is not the issue here. The rocks will be moved out by the artisans who come to fix it so please, stay away from the crumbling walls. If the castle were to crumble while you were inside, however helpful you were being, it would be a great loss to out society. For your safety and to set an example for the citizens you are not allowed inside the castle without express verbal permission from either my husband or myself. I understand also that you are advisor to my husband, it would be a shame to lose you because the castle fell around your shoulders. Or because you could not follow the laws. Those allowed access are only granted that much for making sure no citizens have gone inside, no monsters have sprung from the depths, and for reporting to the artisans.
Maeve, your acceptance into Varshikar will have to wait for the time being but I vouch on your behalf that you are allowed to walk the land without penalty of tax.
Thank you in advance for respecting the laws we have set down,

If you've been staying in the skull cave then by all means continue to do so, to fret over a piece of land no one is interested in currently would be rather tiresome. so long as nothing threatening to the safety of the citizens is brought about by your staying there, i see no harm in it.

I believe the orc is slow in the mind. I attempted to lead him out to safety while I did my work in the castle, but as soon as my eyes were off him he wandered back in. I will prepare a spell that might change his thoughts, and let him wander elsewhere.
Lady Quinasa,
No disrespect meant, but where are the artisans? Do these artisans even exist upon such a small, frontier isle? Where is the kind of gold we need for artisans? We are not rich like the decadent West.
Upon returning, Aristeaus welcomed me with open arms, and we forgave past misdeeds, and it was a wonderful experience... but the rest of the royal family does not seem so willing to have my help. Have you not all witnessed firsthand what I have already accomplished in so few days?
I came upon a desolate rock and there upon it I put life--and I was the only one willing to do so. Now I ask for help and you tell me that I break the laws? Perhaps I would have been better off leaving the desolate rock be.
Now, will I get support from the royal family and the other citizens to rebuild the castle, or shall I leave?

Moskher,
I meant no disrespect to you, nor did I mean to make you feel unwelcome. Varshikar is your home. Believe that I am thankful for the aid you are giving, but sometimes the worst harm can come from the greatest intentions. You are a wise man and I trust that you see the wisdom and love in my words when I ask you to abide by the laws. They were not set to upset people, they were set down for the safety of the people, yourself included.
The artisans that I speak of are from the mainland. I have spoken with them myself and saw firsthand the work they did on the outside buildings. True that we have a shortage of artisans on the isle, and there is no gold that you see but you do not see everything. I work every day, don't make little of the things I have accomplished for the people and the land I call home. And don't assume that you are the only person willing to work hard. Do not assume that you understand why I can not be there. You never could. Do not accuse me of not working to the best of my ability. You know nothing of my inability to come home and the pain it causes to my heart every day.
So in the end here it is just as it was in the beginning. The law is the law and I will not make an exception for you as then I would have to make an exception for everyone. Please understand that my reasoning is not against you, it is against causing harm, and we would love to have you working with us just in a different way and out of danger. These are the terms, as they are for everyone else. If you do not like them you know where the road leads.
