1) Well, the character deserves it for having a crappy sword
2) Fighting is usually fast, with lots of shoving and trying to get the upper hand. You forget that sometimes a simple trip or a shove will make your enemy helpess.
3) Not slashing swords, buddy. Notice how the edged weapons skill increases when using swords? Yeah, this is because the sword in Illarion are heavier slashing swords.

1) +3) A sword isn't that thin. And it is made of solid steel. A sword can withstand a lot more then you might think. Sure, I wouldn't try this with a rapier or some other kind of light duelling weapon, but a good sword, or even a broadsword doesn't break that easily.
2) Of course you will have to wait for the right moment. A weapon or shield has some weight, and hence it will need a second or two for someone to get into position after you deflect his blow. If he's wearing heavy armor then it's even worse.

Knee in the groin, swift kick in the shins, spin-on-a-heel-and-slam-with-an-elbow, yaddi, yadda.
Let's just agree on something. It's possible to "push" people if you have something in your hands: Think of someone running into you and trying to ram a wooden log into your belly. If you don't dodge that, you will be "pushed".
Can we also agree that it should be:
a) easily possible to push yourself (against the bug)
b) possible to push others depending on game stats
c) impossible to perform impossible feats with pushing?

So .: you can push people when you simply attack with a pole.... good idea.. [hope i didn't mis-understand]
A) push yrself... i tried but couldn't... dont worry,,, push yrself has led to abuse though, acessing areas blocked by tables on purpose
B) Hope it will be implemented
C) It would be connected to B... however insects are light, and i wouldn't think i'd push them....

Correct. A row of soldiers wielding halberds of even only staves could easily control the walls of a rioting crowd. Even a row wielding swords would work, because hell, only few people want to plunge themselves into a sword.Hadrian_Abela wrote:So .: you can push people when you simply attack with a pole.... good idea.. a) I always considered the "pushing yourself" to be "jumping" (I used it more than actual pushing, and not just in combat), it was slow for everybody, but everybody could do it. As for areas not meant to be accessible, that's for the map design, not for the ergonomy dept.
b) me too
c) right, I agree, pushing a horde of flies is silly. Or pushing a towering hulk of an ogre, or pushing, fate forbid, a demon. Generally speaking, maybe pushing monsters altogether is worth removing; monsters are gross. I have trouble imagining people without the proper Willpower would even dare or survive trying, except maybe with a skeleton.
