I got stuck too....

I just got to the main place right after I started the game, I went all the way upstairs and am currently stuck on a roof top with no stairs to go back down... there are bushes all over...

he is at the top of the elvenhouse. he just have to walk to the little free area south of the one with the roof. there is a ladder downstairs. you just can't see it from above.

If this is the case, the way downstairs is free.
I just accidently forgot to place the "ladder down" tile on the corresponding teleporter field, as Galim mentioned.
(I fixed this on a future map.)

If you just cannot find this teleporter, you are able to jump downstairs where no bushes block your path, at the cost of a little bit of your health.

shift and click on a shelf. shift and click on a book. don't stand on the book. chose the one in the cursor in the middle and shiftclick the book. chose the 2 in the cursor in the middle and shift click the book, and so on
