Intros and things
I'm not a huge online rpg player, infact all I've played is rose online and that's because my housemates got me to play it. It's fun for a bit but I wanted to look for something deeper and this one caught my eye for not being about levelling up. Levelling up in RPGs is satisfying when you reach a new level but mostly is just a test of how long you can be bothered to hit the same things over and over. It sounds nice to be able to escape to a different world for a bit where I don't have to talk about myself at all.
Bit worried my creativity won't be up to scratch, I'm assuming my story passed as it let me submit a character earlier. Took me ages to come up with a name though, I've not done anything really creative since school (I'm 24 now). The internet killed my writing skills, I found an old email I wrote once when I was 16 and it was like an essay! I didn't even recongise it as mine until I got to the end. Sad really!
Hope to be playing soon.

I'd like to recommend Moonsilver for reading if you haven't done such yet. Also, I've been told that, albeit unfinished and a whole lot to read, the Roleplaying Guide is a worthy piece for players who are new to Illarion, as well as new to RPing online alike.
Cheers, and welcome to the club.

I've had a look through Moonsilver, really need to sit down and digest it. Hadn't come across the guide before though, thanks for that.
Oh I know some people must be biting their lip thinking about this: no don't worry I didn't name my character after my forum name.
I'm keeping characters and me completely seperate.

Well you seem to be quite well written now. That's half of the battle of becoming a good roleplayer. I'm sure you'll fit in fine: You already seem to understand the concept of seperating character from real life self, which is another step to becoming a great roleplayer.
Anyway, welcome to Illarion and enjoy your stay.

Welcome! I too am another hopeful, waiting ever so paitently for that reply email that says my character made it! ("Defender of the Innocent"
Paladin here I come!) I think you'll do fine with the role-playing aspect, like someone already mentioned it's about seperating yourself from the role, and replacing with this persona. I love all the role-playing because in my real life I double as an actor, and all the table-top and on-line games like this one is just like one big acting101 extra credit I ENJOY doing.
The similarities between the two mediums really are astounding, and I just think it's fantastic that what I do to relax and have fun is also something that helps me as an actuer. Still though, hope to see you on-line soon, and may you have many blessed good times-Cristian

Hey. I'm new as well (about three hours and counting). Wow, I think you have nothing to worry about from not being good at Roleplaying... I am already intimidated by the size of your post. I'm a writer, so theoretically I should be good at this... we'll see
. I agree, the internet has in some ways damaged my literacy (god, I can't spell anymore), but it also makes it easier in other ways. Lots of places to practice and such. Good luck to all of the other noobs.

Aww, but it tastes so good...Gro'bul wrote:Its a sand-eater get'm! Elves understand the balance of and their place in nature, they need to eat! As for vegetarians, there is no other source of protein right now. So, stop eating sand, its bad for you.Hadrian_Abela wrote:Also:: elves are against that sort of thing....
1) This is rp, not a nutrition class
2) Nuts and seeds contain protens, you can get it from bread and cherry seeds
3) Protein is needed for muscel building, so dwarves would need it most
4) I cant really immagine a muscular elf, and as they live for 1000+ years, i dont suppose they need to be
5) Whats wrong with being a vegetarian?
6) To Devrah--> Is unarmed combat implemented yet? last time i couldn't do any damage that way
