Arrows.

Post by Thalodos Artemetus »

Anyone else think that archers have a slight disadvantage?
To make an arrow not only do i need one whole tree, but i also need some thread. So to make 20 arrows i need to chop 20 trees and kill over 40 mummies?! Can you please consider changing back to the old system, at least where arrows are concerned.

Thanks.

I agree that only making one arrow out of an entire tree is wack ((Yes I said wack :P)). Archers to be effective at all need a constant supply of arrows and the way it is now, it is just not feasable to get that supply of arrows. More arrows per one tree and thread would be very nice :)

I totally agree. Maybe this is a bug? Feathers, a stone or a steel point, OK, but thread?

It's the newest invention: thread guided arrows.

Next to come: heat seaking crossbow bolts.

I heard they're working on GPS- arrowheads too...

Now comes a difficult task, that of putting on the feathers. Many ways and means have been devised, and in target arrows nothing is better than just sticking them on by hand. Some have used clamps, some use pins, some lash the feathers on at the extremities with thread, and then glue beneath them. We take the oldest of all methods, which is shown in the specimens of old Saxon arrows rescued from the Nylander boat in Holland, [1] [Footnote 1: See _Archer's Register_ of 1912.] also depicted in many old English paintings--that of binding the feathers with a piece of thread running spirally up the shaft between the bristles.
Maybe a Donf Glue would work as well too...or some other afformentioned method.

As i said, if arrows could be produced the old way, all would be well. It doesn't need to get ultra realistic with glue feathers etc. Because that kind of takes away from the fun of the game.

edit: On a different subject, The book of self awareness doesn't seem to work (i would post on flyspray but i can't log in).

Maybe the thread is to wrap the arrow point to the wooden stick, so, an arrow.

Arrowheads are usually fixed by making a cut into the end of the shaft and just putting the head into this cut. Fixing it with thread would be quite an unreliable way.
