Explain please

Ok hopefully this post doesn't get deleted without getting answered.
I logged in with my Orc and all his weapons and armour are gone (ok i can live with that). I just logged in with my Dwarf and found that my Mining has decreased by 20% and my Smithing has decreased by 10% why is this.
