General Fix request
I keep hearing that 'we are working on it' when certain things are asked/complained about on the boards. The ones that come to mind are magic, books, language learning, farming, and I'm sure others I don't remember.
THAT'S FINE. Not complaining about that, I'm a programmer of some years myself and completely understand what's going on.
What I would like to request is a general fix thread that only the developers/gm's can post to. We don't need daily updates, that would just be a pain to you. However, when something is supposedly fixed and available in game, it would be nice to have a central place we can check for that so we know whether something is a bug, being worked on or intended to be that way. (Maybe a list of the current known issues that is updated could be good) I'm actually not referring to bugs, we can check those out at the flyspray site, these are just development issues.
Two examples of what I am talking about:
1. Books - Currently there are only a hand full of books that give ANY message. The herb books don't show anything but I'm not sure if they are being worked on or if they are supposed to be like that.
2. Farming - When I tried planting grain the way we used to do it, didn't work. That may be intended, may be something still in development.
I'm NOT asking for the steps to do stuff, that goes against our philosophy or RP here. But if we know what is being developed currently you won't get as many complaints about bugs that aren't bugs, just changes and such.

Did you check http://illarion.org/flyspray/ ?
You can see there what bugs we are working on currently, what features are requested, which things are finished and so on.
But maybe I just didn't understand you.

I believe what he is asking for is a list of now fixed items.
Example being Martin you will recall a group of us getting stuck down near the undead. I have not been back to that location as I do not know if it is working yet and if the undead are still over spawned. "if they were ever over spaned of course
"
We cant make thread or tailor yet, again understandable. When it is fixed it will propably be announced. I believe what he is looking for is a thread were fixes and additions are announced.|
Tailoring is now working,
Farming is now working,
Undead catacomb is now bug free to enter.
Etc etc
May be to much trouble, however I agree i would also appreciate it
Thanks
Brian

I like flyspray, I gues my request was kindof pointing at the issues that aren't being reported as bugs by players, they are just things being worked on. Because some things are hard to tell whether they are a bug or just changed from the previous client/server or not implemented.
However, I suppose that could be handled by my inputing those types of things in flyspray as I find them and then you can just tell us there what the situation is with them, whether it is a bug or as microsoft would say, 'a feature'

No problem with fly spray infact I have been doing what I can to help with that venture. It is very useful both to players and developers.
How ever what it is not a comprehensive list of progress made on the server. Personally I am not looking at this as a way to see how much as been done, or monitor dev activity.
As a player I can however see the merit in a simple list of fixes perhaps updated weekly. It would be a far quicker way for players to see what is working and what is not.
If the idea does not make sense/appeal to the dev team so be it. I can just see it as being useful.
Thanks all the same

the problem is, keeping another list of issues generates more work we could use to fix bugs instead...
i agree that fixed bugs should be mentioned in the bugtracker, even if they were not mentioned before they were fixed...
but i doubt that it's useful to compile another list from this buglist..
if it's really wanted, how about someone volunteering to compile the list say once a week from what is listed on flyspray and posting a summary?
that would save developers time for more important things like actually fixing issues instead of merely polishing the way that information is provided.

With pleasure, I will give it a go. By that token please excuse me asking stupid questions on occasion.
Would it be acceptable if i was to compile a list of knowen bugs and then mark them fixed as things progress? This seems a good way as it enables players to easily check what is broken as well as what is now working.
I will get on to that later, if my idea is agreeable
