Solitude and warnings

Post by Pendar »

((long ramble cause i felt like writing open rp to any one especially the other two who met the spirit with Pendar))

Sitting high atop the battlements of the town a man could believe he was alone at the dawning of the world. The sky taking on the first pink tinge of dawn slowly shedding light of the mist covered fields and glens of the lands surrounding Trollsbane. The forest’s and distance mountains cast in deep silhouettes as if to state the secrets they held and mysteries they may never divulge.
The smell of wood smoke from the early riser’s breakfast fires drifted slowly through the air and a rooster crowed far below the worlds slow start brought the young man’s attention back to the present as he dulled the strings of the magnificent instrument he cradled in his arms. Brushing a strand of black hair from his delicately boned face he allowed him self a smile as he surveyed the land from his high vantage point through eyes like emeralds. His smiled faded as he conceded to himself that even he could feel his stare held less and less youthful exuberance daily as his stare became more a tool of calculation and the young bard he had been more the soldier.
He had always stated with confidence that fate was a strange lady to date and apparently lady luck had taken it upon her self to back his words.
He felt too young and small for the position set before him which had in such grand fashion trampled happy plans. His thoughts turned to centre of those plans the singular light he could cling to in these darker moments. The lady he had left asleep again to indulge his thoughts in the early moments of the day. She had taken it so well his appointment the end of beautiful plans.
Or ask me now. I will leave it.
Yet she didn’t ask it was at that moment he was sure she was the only person of the island who truly knew him.
I don't ask you... as I said.. I would have done the same I'm just afraid.
He had spoken so surely and he knew it was truth for her he would have
I would do it in a moment...just know that....
Oh I only have my good name to ruin
And indeed how well she did know him.
And your smile... I fear that this position could break you... like it broke John.
The admission had come so easily there was nothing to prove to her.
In plain truth I am terrified and have no idea were I will find the strength for what I must do
that simple admission the plain truth of the matter threatened to sap his will to continue this damn job had already cost him two friends a commodity he could ill afford to trade lightly. Speaking softly to him self a simple affirmation of the only thing he had to cling to.
John I hope you have hung up your sword and learnt to plant a cabbage your son and wife deserve your smile. If words may find wings let these find you rest easy at night for if nothing else I will make good a simple promise an act of thanks I may never share with you. Yet in your name and honor to your memory I will see a strong guard again

His thoughts drifted to lost friends again, his friends had always been few yet he felt it was his duty to find a smile for them. All two of them and both out of sight for the moment yet he felt no fear for them. He suppose he loved them so dearly for the fact they were so much a like the three of them honest rogues who still believed a smile and joke were the worlds finest currency. They would be fine, Time would teach Farrel that bliss wasn’t in a keg and Sian would realize that Tanora lifted a rock for every smile.
For his own part he knew he was a lucky man perhaps he could still make old bones if he kept an eye open. Yet he missed them and in this moment it seemed he would rather live long enough to simply share another smile with them.
Yet the day was wasting and he had a guard to recreate standing nimbly and stretching his small frame he turned to descend the long flight of stairs to the street. Suddenly he realized his lute still sat were he had moments before. He laughed at himself, the first payment you have received for service and you would leave it to the elements. As he bent to pick up the wondrous instrument the words of the spirit that had gifted it to him came back as if the wind carried to him.
It lies beyond the sealed portals, but someday, someday those portals may be opened.
This is why we must all come together as a people
The one known as Nadrook Na'han, should I dare to speak his infernal
name, the one whose corruption smote the hero known as Moshran, and made him the Bonelord that he is today.
This evil is beyond all ken. Even Groar is adverse to something so vile
.

Speaking to the air that seemed to carry words he answered.
I will bring you this united people, you need only bring me the key to end this evil, oh and don’t forget your promise to me.
The bard is rewarded sevenfold in the afterlife what the warrior is rewarded.
Yes that one he laughed, Though I fear I shall have to play often and well to balance the scales.
Slinging the lute over his shoulder her turned and headed for the streets below slowly returning to life as the first rays of sun light kissed the cobbles.

Sian floated in the ocean's waves, belly-up; cushioned by the sea; with his eyes closed as if sleeping while the waves pushed him any direction as it pleased them.

"Odd, where only are those stones?" he mutters out of the blue, opening his right eye and focusing his vision on the blue sky over ocean. The pale blue in his eye scintillated with the soft morning's sunlight as it graced his iris. His voice meshed with the crashing of waves all around him.

He drifted aimlessly, pondering how his halberd 'Mercy' was now at the ground of the sea along with his suit of armor.
"Pffft, guess I'm not dead after all," he muttered with a dreamy grin. The memories washed over him, how he had tried to escape the island once again on a ship, how the violent storm overcame the vessel, and they had sunken miserably. Once again bound to the isle.

"Damn, what was I thinking? I promised to the old man I'd stay at his side. Not to mention that lovesick fool Pendar," he mutters on with his familiar feline grin—then sputtering out some water as it splashes into his face and his consciousness forms to the clarity of a crystal. Flopping around through the waves, he sees the island again, and begins to swim towards the distant shoreline.

It looked like a long swim ahead of him...

'Get him!'
'Cheat!'
'Stop him'

These are some of the cries which followed the pompusly clad young man as he ran through the darkened alleys.

Another town he couldnt return to, ahh well..

A impish grin spreads across the mans face as he leaps a pile of trash laying upon the ground, his bright red cloak billowing behind him.

How did i get caught this time, maybe he was loosing his touch, or was it the fact that after not loosing a hand of cards allnight, maybe just maybe his companions had suspected something.

With a laugh the man throws his arms out wide, the wind catches the tunic he wears, and as if by magic a string of cards flutter into the night sky, which only adds to the mans mirth.

Surely he had won enough to book voyage, maybe enjoy some of the fairer sex's company on the way..

The man breaks out of the alleyways and without a glance behind him slows his pace and lets his cloak fall to the ground.

Where to now,,, ah yes trollsbane, surely Pends would have dug himself into a world of hurt by now,, and who else but i can hand him a shovel.

Walking into the crowds Farel makes his way to the docks...
