New captain

Greetings citizens of trolls bane.
As some of you may be aware,it was decided at the town meeting that I would take over the position of captain of the guard.Weather or not I keep the position long term or not will very much depend on how you and I view my sucess in this appointed role.
Many of you know me and I would like to believe I have a reputation for being both dedicated and fair. The same qualitys I will carry with me into my new post.
The guard is first and foremost a public service as such it is my desire to work hand in hand with the citizens of the town I protect.
I am indeed at your service and urge you to seek me out with any other concerns or suggestions you may have.
As many will have noticed our little island has recently seen a number of changes and many new faces. It will of course take a few weeks to see everything settle down to normal and the guard resume it's proper role.
There have been some unpleasant accusations lately leveled against guards and even the guard in general. Of course in times of peace it is always the guards lot to be placed under scrunity and criticism.
A meeting of the town guard which will be open to any one wishing to apply to join or citizens new merely wishing to learn more about the role of the guard.Time and place to be announced shortly.
As stated feel free to seek me out with regard to any matters.

Durin was right, there is no need for a guard. Indirect pressure is much more effective than direct pressure. What am I talking about? Simple, when someone does a crime, the guards chase him about like fools, and nothing is done, most citizens not caring. Without guards, every person has responsibility to know and watch out for these individuals, and they are isolated. They also take more responsibility defending town.

Lennier was also right. He is not the town. I am not the town. The human in the shop isn't the town. The elf sitting in the grass isn't the town. Who is then? Should the townspeople all together be the ones to react against the horrific corruption and nonsense that goes on everyday. Killing people you dislike, then covering it up to save your own skin worked yesterday, but tomorrow you will get punched back, perhaps by someone who can actually defend themself. He came at you with an axe, huh Pendar? I saw this human also, and I would have noticed a giant axe coming off of him. No one came at you with an axe. I just hope this human comes forward someday.

Fooser it is unfortunate that aside from perhaps Garret you are a lone voice. Unfortunate because you speak with such passion I am certain people would truly be inspired.
What is the point of the guard, allow me to enlighten you. Today in town infront of the shop. An orc followed a man to town intent on killing him for being a thief. The man inturn managed to rally around five or so by standers.Base fact is some one was set to die there I would like to believe my presence meant no one did.
That simply put is the role of the guard a role I believe I have in the past gone to great lengths to achieve.With indeed some degree of sucess.
Liar again you brand me I openly admit to striking the man, I openly admit to "interogateing" him at the cross. I also admit to seeing him out of the northern gate of town. If that is the best lie you can place at my feet I fear I shant even have to clean my shoes. As far as words like coward go I have always left it to those better suited to make such calls on a mans nature. I prefer my actions to speak for me.I approached you in town yesterday in an attempt to speak to you. I am pleased to see you have found your tongue again even if you only find voice on parchment.

The people of Trollsbane are much safer without your type. You want to talk about judging by your actions? Absolutely, lets try that. Let's go drag Moskher back here, Im sure he can tell us all about your character. I am a lone voice right, because I speak for the possibly tens, hundreds of people who have crossed your path, Durins path, Calliths path. Why don't you try other topics as well. There are more voices there, but in the long running standard of excellence of Lennier and the guards, no one will care. Either that or they are afraid to speak, which wouldn't suprise me with people like you around.

You talk about peace? Right, I wonder how many buy that. Lennier talk about citizens having a say? No, that's a horrible magic trick in trying to make an inbalanced system, dissapear. What a joke, no one cares about guards, no one cares about the Grey Rose.

It pains me terribly to see that Pendar you will still hide what you have done. I feel responsible for what you have become Pendar, you used to only want to be a gem cutter, remember that? It was I who told you to join the guard, you would find glory and honor, remember? I found honor perhaps not glory, but you found power and the dark side of politics.

A familiar face walks by, seeing the messages posted. He shakes his head slightly and hangs a message of his own on the wall.

I have noticed that not one of you who have thrown anything in Pendar's face about his job, or those who have supported him, have even gone so far as to congratulate him or wish him well. I wish to extend my thanks to the work Pendar has done for us, and will likely do for us in the future. While I feel that a man is safest and a true citizen when he is fighting for himself, rather than having others do it for him, I know that Pendar will fight for what he feels is right for the town, which may prevent some death in the future.

Pendar is a truly great gaurd. i am sorry that some of you don't think that way. Most people aren't perfect. Everyone makes their mistakes. But I have seen Pendar fall several times while protecting innocent people. I know his actions are all meant to be good

Fooser your commentary has become irrelevant as what my personal life has to do with my station escapes me. Consider yourself relegated to the realm of slander.
Garret I have always left honor and glory to those who seek it. I rather set my eyes on a safe town. The humble goal I aspire to.

The handwriting is quite a bit clearer than it was in the past, and the smell of alchohol is not to be sensed.

I have not left quite yet. I have allowed myself some time to find clarity, pack my bags, and schedule my trip. Soon, I depart--very soon, but first there must be some goodbyes, some good riddances, and perhaps even a few curses.

What amazes me most about Pendar is that I tried, with great difficulty, to be open, truthful, and honest with him. Even when I had reason to suspect otherwise, I allowed him the chance to be the same with me, even going so far as to ignore my doubts.

I told Pendar honestly that Caitlin was all that I had and that I had given up everything for her. I also told him quite honestly that had things been like they once were, his life would have ended the very moment I heard his name. Yet, I gave him every opportunity to prove himself a man of honor; instead, I found lies.

He condemned a number of you, his citizens, those who he is in charge of guarding, as gossipers. However, I have every reason to believe the gossip as fact. He gave the names of whole groups of young, gentle-minded, and peaceful citizens to a man he knew was a former spymaster, criminal, bandit, kidnapper, and leader of assassins. What fate did he intend for you? I will allow you to guess.

If I talked to you about this situation, know that Pendar was the one who brought up your names and accused you as liars and even went so far as saying that you congregate with a known worshipper of Moshran. Sadly, those lies are truth, I was wrong, and Pendar was the liar all along.

Now, in these cold days, I say my last farewells, for I have lost the last thing that I had on this island. I leave in garb of black, but someday perhaps, I will return, in robes of white, to call down divine fury.

I will not be drawn into discussion of my personal affairs here for two reaons. One being I fail to see what relevance they have. Secondly there is a third party to Moskhers sad tale of woe. Who I will not compramise by entering into frivolous mud slinging match. Those who believe me a liar will those who dont wont. The few who know me will know.

How does this have relevance? You will lie, cheat, steal, sneak behind people's backs, put the citizens in danger, and destroy lives for your own happiness.

A sacred oath was made to Sirani, and may she rend your soul for going so far out of your way to destroy it.

Besides this, the third party is a liar as well. While she snuck around with you during the day, in the night she would come to me and call me her King, tell me how much she loves me, and sleep in my bed.

In truth, the only one she loves is a Lord from another land, and for what she did to the Lady, she should be in the temples praying for her soul.

Bah john was disgrace...only reason me not kill all yer town members was cause Pend...pend only one reason dat me stayed back from most fights between the skulls and the town...me wudda come on daily raides if wasnt fer him he onyl oomie dat has pride and smarts...he one who talks before come and fights...john wud attack on sight befores evens said ne things...john reason me did fights in battles...me hated john he worst oomie of all!

Moskher as much as I disagree and feel sorry for Pendar and his actions, I must respond to your horrific description of Pendar. He would never steal or cheat.
Moskher you cannot force anyone to love you and it is not your fault nor Pendars fault that the lady you both love and have loved has changed her feelings. This happens and that is what love is truely about. Untameable, unpredictable.
Pendar has fallen in the wrong crowd, I have been wrong, it is not right for a friend to leave his friend while he is drowning. Rather the friend should pull the fallen friend out of the river.

I am sorry this note is so scruffy, i will now tell my story of false attack by Pendar Fayed.

It was a chilly night and a girl was next to me. She bit me! Pendar didnt not care about that, but what next would make anyone try to deffend the person, then she drew a large axe, and swung, I fought back (only to save myself). Pendar then drew his own axe and attacked me as well.

Why did Pendar let the girl attack me and not attack the girl?
Reasons point this this: Womanizing.

P.s the reason my writing is so bad, is becuase Pendar banned me from town, so i must make my apperance quick.

The Pendar you speak of is not a town guard, he is a coward, hiding in the shadows of others, striking when no one can see him.

A day ago Pendar had found me, the great lizard bandit, and tried to arrest me, but i was too quick for his little human legs. But what happened next fills me with rage till this day. He sent an ORC to do his bidding. Im sure the orc did this only becuase Pendar agreed if he became a vigilante he would not ban him from town.

And as a note Pendar, dont leave the jail windows open to a lizard's cell.

There is a scaly handprint made of human blood were the signiture should be.

It is always most interesting to watch a fool run his mouth as you will note when next you slink into town by cover of dark to place more lies on our town board, I have not thrown your letters away I have placed them for all to see.
Your first note is rather fanciful account I admire your recollection as you were blind drunk when this occured. Which in turn explains your strange account no doubt. You leave out the part were ealier in the day you killed a dwarf in the tavern by your own admission. You leave out the part were I banned you from town and asked you to leave on numerouse occasions. There by when the brave young lady in question drew down on you, she was merely performing a civil service and ridding us of some criminal filth.
By very aware had i taken my axe to you there would be no note to read, That was a mace child.
Enter town at your peril, for murders will not be allowed to walk the streets. Do not attempt to use others words for your defence, you may have noted since I started my role. There have been few if any complaints about the job I do.

A man in the looks of his late 20s walks past the wall of the shop and stops, reading the notes on the wall. He lets out a low gruff grumble.

How many times as Pendar stood alone against orc raids? How many times has Pendar stood alone in the face of so many dangers that have threatend the town? How many times have others ran for cover when Pendar stands up in defience of the threat to town, no matter how little or big it be. Some of you that have accused Pendar of being a lier or a coward had best to revise thier stories. I will not tolerate lies aimed at the Captain of the town guard. If you feel so cowerdly to write your claims instead of take them up with Pendar himself, then you have no claim. And those who i once thought of as at least honerable and i have seen you post so many things against a single man, it makes me more that sick.
It makes me furious.

Pendar has fought for the innocents despite his own saftey so many times i have lost count. DO you want to discredit him entierly? If so, then you will only be preaching to deaf ears. And should you stoop so low as to act against Pendar in a physical fassion, your life will be forfiet. That is no threat, i make none, tis a promise.

I remember helping with alot of those problems, shall any threat be made against pendar, or any action performed against pendar in an ill manner the performer shall hear the singing of my blades just before they fall to thier knees then fade into the blackness of death.

Fooser you should join the guard. Make sure that we dont harass to many citizens and such. Being the best swordsman on the isle makes me a real threat. Only you can save this fair town.
