Maeve blew the candles out and took the rubyring from the pool of blood on the ground.
Without minding the blood, she put the ring on her finger. She smiled knowingly.
'As promised, you got a body now. And now where you serve Bjolmur entirely, we may meet again some day.', she whispered, though she knew that the demon, that once dwelled in this ring, couldn't hear her.
Maeve looked up into the sky and she thought about Athian. About all the hours they two spent with another and she wondered how long it would take until this would end.
A scream in pain let Maeve forget her thoughts. The scream came from the house of the harbour... not far away from the spot she sat.
"Mom!?", she yelled and jumped up. Something went wrong, she knew it...
The ring and the demon

"Mom?", she yelled again, as she entered the house. No response. The house was empty.
Maeve winced and sat on the floor. Some of the chairs at the table were knocked over and she gazed at them, as her thoughts drifted away...
remembering a certain moment at this table.
"Maeve, where have you been so long?", Deirdre asked her in a gentle tone, as the little girl entered the house.
"I have been in Varshikar and spend my time with Chak"
"Chak?"
"Yes, a lizard. I will marry him, when I'm old enough."
Deirdre raised her eyebrows and looked at her daughter questioningly.
"marry? a lizard?"
Maeve nodded. "I love him"
Deirdre examined her little child and a smile came across her face. She knew that innonce was more a pretending than really honesty... but who knows... maybe she was wrong.
"And does he love you too?", she asked.
"hm... he never said that, but I'm sure he does."
Maeve looked up again from her thoughts and stands. "Where are you..."

Pendar noticed the smile on his friend's face.
- Hmm, I bet we have good news on the way - he said.
Dominik smiled.
- Indeed, my friend.
- Tell me then - Pendar grinned.
Dominik adjusted his hat and grinned.
- I found something that I was looking for.
- Your son? - Pendar asked.
- Kamik. Yes. But I didn't speak with him yet - Dominik answered with his usual smile on.
- Why not?
- I left him when he was young. I doubt he will speak with me if I come saying I am his father.
- Hm, I see... Where is him?
Dominik then seemed to think at the question.
-Well, that's the odd part - he answered. - He lives on the eastern beach with and old lizard.
- An old lizard?
- Yes. I saw them trainning. It seems my son chosed the way of the sword.
- Like his father.
-Heh. Not at all. I am just a common lute player - Dominik grinned. - Well, I must go now, my friend. I have some things to move to Greenbriar. Finally some peace to my bones.
- I see. Tell me if you need some help. See you.
- Later.
And while Dominik left, he thought about his son and that lizard. The lizard seemed very old and tired although it was in an odd way. He found him a bit familiar.
- Dagger, did you recognize that lizard with my son? - Dominik asked to the air while was walking.
- Yes - a voice coming from his belt answered.
-Oh, why didn't you say it early then?
- Because you didn't ask.
- Oh, fine. I am sure I saw him somewhere, but I can't remember. Who is him?
The dagger got silent for some moments and then answered:
- Chak' Ysshirr.

Maeve curled up in a corner of the basement of the Varshikar castle. She cried out all the tears she had,... and now she sat there and just sobbed.
In her hand she held the necklace with two rings on it. Two weddingrings.
"Deirdre & Dival Brawdcor", were engraved in both of them.
Now she finally lost everyone she really cared for. Apart from Athian... and he wasn't around yet.
No Chak anymore, no mother and no father.
Her little body shivered.
"It's all my fault...", she mumbled to herself.
