Feast!
Hey! I like the idea, *rubs his oversized belley* that would give us a great opportunity to get to know the rest of the members! I'll donate what I can to the cause!
Oh, quick question too. Does anyone ever scrawl on the guild wall ((http://farmersunion.board.dk3.com/2/index.php)) it seems that the last messages are pretty old, the ink is even starting to fade. If I have questions, should I be leaving them here instead of there?

Please brace yourself, this is ooc!:
BYRON! Theres a little thing called powergaming! This is why i didn't exactly let you into the guild at first, becuase i was afraid that you would take advantage of it, and it looks like you have!
4 hours straight is WAY too much!!! Don't you think your character would get tired by then, of trudging through the muddy fields hacking away at weat, planting seeds, digging holes, watering plants, and gathering cabbages, and then carrying them to a depot?
Erm okay heres the deal: If you poweramer (Powergaming can be defined as doing one thing enough times to make more money or get more skill) then you cannot farm anymore... I've promised that noone in our guild will powergame.
So from now on, one crop at a time, and don't over do it Please!!
By the way, im posting this so others will see that your not suposed to farm for a long time also.
Thanks, ( and NO i don't have an ooc grudge against you, im just telling you the facts is all.. im not mad either, just informing you.)
Nilo
(Sorry for the ooc...)
Its not that bad

I ment 1 1/2 hours., i thought it was 4 hours from my Online Player Viewer when i first used it, but thats when i jus tlogged on.
And 1 1/2 hours is nothing, 4 hours is common for me. Runescape... I played it for 3 years. Ive spent 12 hours chopping trees, voer 15 hours mining coal and 7+ hours trianing. I have no limit to how long i can play. But i dont understand why you cant spend a sum of time farming. How do you make money then? It doesnt make sence.

The pig in the field i use in the union is MY pet pig! Id love it if no one killed Mr.Oinkels. He eats fish i dont sell to eliza, and eats weeds to help my crops. You can feed him fish and let him eat your weeds too, So PLEASE do not kill him.

Hello all,
I posted to the Guild wall but seeing as it doesn't seem very many people go there, I decided to post here as well.
If we would like our way of life to continue we need to seriously consider devote a large amount of time to farming so we can put together 500 ingots donation for the guild. We paid for a nice building with a depot right there by the farm lands so that we don't have to drap our crops all the way to the library.
Well guess what? If we don't get 500 ingots together, it sounds rather likely (from what I've read) that we could loose it. So farm those cabbages! I'll be able to get together maybe 20, 30 if lucky just because of limited time. We need some major contributors though so we don't loose this building we all worked so hard for. And we need to make sure we are hitting up all those non-members that use the farm lands.
We actually should have brought this up as soon as we found out we had a deadline to get the money in so we have to work a little harder now. I should no longer walk into our fields and see them both lying fallow. The end is near. It has been prophesied repeatedly and the gods must be appeased!
Brotheren and Sisters UNITE! Or this may very well BE our FINAL HOUR!
I'm Guessing that Nilo is the appropriate person to gather all these resources together in but if he's not available, I know that at least I am willing to store them till he is.

Heheh, um, false alarm?
I was reading one of the general threads and Estralis mentioned that Cassandra had stated that guilds get to keep their lands AS LONG AS THEY ARE ACTIVE.
I don't know if someone wants to double check and confirm this or not it sounds like as long as we remain active, the lands and depot should be safe. I know I farm at least 2-3 times a week myself (don't know about others since I hardly ever see anyone but Byron when I'm there). But we may be ok after all. Sorry if this has been a false alarm.
On another topic. Our orchards are in danger from some some scum-sucking tree killer. I had perfect rows set up in easy to harvest lines accross the whole orchard and someone dug every siingle apple tree out by the root. Now Byron believes it was...Hrm, started with and I - Istralis? She's female and I believe an elf (hard to believe an elf would do this to trees but I saw some female elf cutting down our orchard about a week ago so who knows). Anyhow, I would not be opposed to seeing her head sitting on a pole at the entrance to the orchards if it truely was her.
Anyhow, THE END IS NEAR, I guess, enjoy the show.

OH MY GOD I SPENT ALL DAY FARMING CABBAGES
oh well i guess i can get that fire sword i need
but i will still give the union some gold ingots
for any thing that it may be needed for in future
having the use of the land is indeed a useful thing
oh and the orchard has been repaired...sort of
the apple trees arent in rows but they are there and we have added cherry trees!

We are most definately becoming more and more active.
Do not worry Gibble, Im quite sure that our lands will not deteriorate through the course of time... I doubt the Evergreen halfling village will be wiped out.. and they are quite inactive. Anyhow...
Perhaps we should hold a meeting soon! Also the fields need some new nutrients. We should fertilize the fields as soon as possible.

BAH! I said it was Irania! She is a Female HUMAN. I saw her cutting the orchard down that day. And know how she constantly uproots the passage blocking trees, and any other trees in her way, im not surprised.Gibble Thibblebum wrote:Heheh, um, false alarm?

Nilo, I see no reason why we should have so many trees RIGHT BY the farmlands when just a few paces North by the hospital there are so many! None of the Union members wish for the land by the river to look cluttered. I like to look across into the fir trees and watch the squirrels play in their nests and the birds sing in the trees. I think if you want an orcherd a few paces from the other you should ask what your friends in the Union what they think of the idea. You are my friend and if you TRUELY wish for the lands to look clustered and overrun by apple and cherry trees then you have my word that I won't touch them again but I will only agree to this if YOU personally tell me so.
Irania
Irania
so nilo are you going to collect these ingots?
whenever i am awake is good
i have 6 ingots at the moment i think
but i want to keep one or two in case i need it
oh and i can replant the orchard in rows if you would like
but.......it would mean taking the trees currently
placed randomly in there
just send me a dove and ill do it

I agree with not having the trees look cluttered. I actually had initially planted them in such a way as to get as many trees into the orchard as possible so that maximum yield could result.
This met with negative feedback and I understood peoples point of view. There were just too many of them, it looked overrun and not artistically pleasing. Therefore, I took out every other row. This had the additional benefit of being able to more easily see where you were. (OOC also, not sure but I think, it may have caused some lag problems, expescially when apples came back on the trees)
However, there is no point in having this big empty grass space on the union lands. It needs to be utilized. As we are farmers, the logical usage of the space is for an orchard. It is off the trail so the trees don't get in the way and provides the stuff needed for cakes and pies. Also, the smell of the apple and cherry blossoms is lovely in the morning.
The whole reason I planted them there is because it IS out of the way on Union Lands. I did not want to fill the common grounds North of the workshop with trees. Some people would like to have a common ground area that is nice and open with few trees as a park area and I see no reason to do that. It makes much more sense to have the open area there then on private, guild owned land.

Farmers,
Filling the grassy land with trees does not make sense to me. I could see lining the land with trees, placing a few here and there, but for the most part leaving it open. I adore trees, but I also love to look at the sky. When I am talking to someone I also like to see their face without having to look past a tree when they are standing right on top of me. When we have a meeting, will we sit inside the building, all of us? Even as our numbers grow? Will we sit outside in the tree coverd lawn and not be able to see one another as we discuss things that need discussing? When I wish to bake should I have to worry about catching the entire land on fire because of the close proximity of all the trees? As I said, I love trees, but too much is too much. I hate clutter and I think our front lawn looks more like an easy-pie-baking-free-for-all than a honoured guild. I joined this guild for the beauty of farming, not for the ease in which I could earn a gold ingot or two. If I was in it for that then my castle would be finished by now. Just my thoughts.
