forum char wipe

Post by cjauncey »

i think that with the game char wipe there should be a forum char wipe

there are 4447 profiles on the forums

and how many of these accounts are actually active?
i think the wipe of all these accounts will make the forums easy to use
and tidy things up

Most of us decided to keep their old chars, many agreed that the forum should stay as it is, most want to keep Illarion's History - So: bad idea.

It wouldn't make the forum easier to use, would it?
i agree it would be OK to delete all the zero-posters that are older than - let's say - 2 month. (We have 1682 zero posters)

Well, maybe expand it out to 6 months so people on vacation or who can only get on rarely don't have to recreate but I like the idea of a bot that would clear someone out after a set time.

Heck, I like the idea for players too. If a char hasn't been on for 1 month per say 20 hours that the character has played, it get's deleted... takes care of the characters that players may make only to find out they really don't like that character (can't do what they want) and they never play them again. It also protects characters that have ALOT of effort put into them but the player has problems, keeping them from playing for even a year or so. I know I've had characters that didn't work out and I knew it within a week of playing them. I deleted them from my computer but they are still wasting space on the server.

I mean all zeroposters older than 2 month. All others will stay.
I think that a zeroposter that exists for more than 2 month wouldn't come back or if he does he would have no problem to recreate it.

That is almost one hour per day.

I have played Rackere for say 1 hour the last 3 month but I wouldn't like him to be deleted. Also, some players took a break and came back. What would happen if they found their chars deleted when they come back?

No, no forum wipe. No need for that. I hope no GM really think about this.

I only think that the forum will be cleared if the history is cleared as well. Until they specifically say that serverspace held by the forums is really a problem, I wouldn't worry about that. And I think That it's been hinted at that we'll be able to delete our own character with the new automated client, so making a character that doesn't work out will be easily fixed.

Kudo's to the team!

I do hope they do not do such a thing, delete all posts. Even though you cannot delete our memories and all, I love reading up on old posts. You do not expect me to memorize *checks amount of pages on RPG board* 95 pages all by heart? Maybe get them stored somewhere else if you really must, but if not, just keep it the way it is.

The character named "Bloodhearte" is long dead anyway. I just use this forum name to screw around on the forums...naturally.

As for the others, they probably wouldn't like it. If anything, they could use their old character names for OOC purposes like I am.
