Tailoring.

Post by Ghásh Wargclaw »

As a tailor I often see and hear about diffrent sort of cloaks and better boots and finer shirts.. and if I have one of these clothes in my inventory I should be able to copy it, shouldn't I? So how about this:
When you have a item in your inventory and you have that proffesion for the item you can try to copy the item and create it yourself, but it should be a bit harder, but not too hard since you ae literally copying an item.. Not starting from scrach. After you have managed to copy the item a couple of times you learn how to create it.
Well how about it?

I don't really understand what your asking, all non leather items, except for dresses I think, can be made with no skill in tailoring, but I'm not sure as thew only character I tailor with is a grandmaster, if the system is changed then I don't know.

However the copying idea isn't good, because everyone would be able to make every item easily, also a non tailor shouldn't just be able to copy somthing someone has already done, because they have no idea how it was actually made, a non tailor couldn't know how the stiching works, they wouldn't know how to prepare the cloth. It's not a good idea, and as clothes are already hard enough to sell to players in game because they never ware out. We don't need more people who can just make thier own clothes.

Well I said that only a person with that proffesion, which means he does know tailoring. But I could also add that this proffesion must be the one the character has the highest skill in... :)

So your saying you should copy an item you can already make? There is no different qualities technically yet.

So you mean you can't be able to make new items within tailoring cloth? But how do you then tailor cloak eh?

I think he is suggesting tailoring something which is beyond your skill level by copying the said item if you own one.. This could be possible,, but the success chance would have to be very very low..

But it can also be said, that someone who owns plate mail would not be able to smith plate by looking at it due to its a skill which would takes years of training.

A two sided arguement, but i beleive it should stay as it is

I think in gradually gaining items to tailor as your skill rises is already a way your character sees new things and tries to learn them. Then you can also take it further and RP your tailor character to ask more skilled tailors how this cloak is sewn, how this leather armor is pieced together, etc.
