Talkings of old people

Post by Lysu Davanum »

Lysu wanders through the western forests, sometimes kneeling to look at one of Ushara's creations. He finds an open spot, lit by the light of moon, at that moment atleast.
He settles, takes out a book, some parchment, a quill, and a bottle of ink. He lays the book on his lap, and begins to write on the parchment.

Dearest De'am,

I hope this letter receives you in good health. I was wondering wether you felt like a good talk. The last one we had was interrupted by myself sadly, so I thought, why not continue it. I'll be in the eastern forest. Just follow the path, till a path to the left emerges. Follow it till an open spot, which by then you will probably already have seen me.
Don't feel obliged, but rather invited to come. Talking with you has always been such a pleasure.

Yours faithfully,

~Lysu~

He whistles loud, and a small squirrel emerges from the forestborder. He ties the letter to the squirrels neck, carefully, as not to hurt him. He whispers him some words, and the squirrel quickly leaves, searching for Delakaniam.

De'am stands in the flickering shade of the cherry tree, mixing some unknown substance in a dark green bottle, when a shrill chitter catches her ear. She glances up out of curiosity, and finds only a moment to ready herself against a squirrel that practically launches itself from the branch.

It lands on the elfess' shoulder with a scramble and begins nibbling and pawing at her ear. De'am shields her face from its hyperactive urgency and carefully unties the small slip of parchment tied around its furry neck. She off-handedly pushes a cherry into the squirrel's paws and unfolds the note. Amber eyes scan over the lines, and De'am turns to the squirrel (who apparently takes De'am's liking for cherries, and is nibbling enthusiastically).

"Ah, you're Lysu's little creature. He's talking to squirrels now, is he?" De'am grins. The squirrel stares at her a moment with beady little eyes and puffy cheeks, but quickly returns to his devour of the cherry. De'am laughs and tucks the note in her cloak. She leisurely takes a few more minutes to finish off the bottle mixing. Before setting off, the fresh bottle is stored in the depot and replaced by two older ones, tucked into the bag.

And one more bottle in hand for the trip. She hands the squirrel another cherry to keep him occupied without running off.

Lysu looks into his poach, rummaging through it. He had put in bread, some rolls, and a few bottles of milk. "Perfect" he thought. He looks to the forestborder, curious about whatever happened to his squirrel.
He stands up, and walks over to the path, and leans against a tree where the path ends. He perks his ears, and listens to the sounds around him.

With the chittering squirrel like a nagging conscience as her shoulder companion, De'am makes her way through the cobbled streets of the town, gradually towards the east. A recent snow leaves a brisk, fresh air about the streets, and the streaks of sunlight sift through the clouds, marring the road with the occasional shadowy patchwork.

Along the way, she happens to chance across -- ......

Steam rose from the snow, as Brendan emptied his bladder around the back of the Silverstar Shop. Secretly pleased with his little rebellion against being cooped up in here daily, he made his way to the center of town.

His mood had taken a downturn recently, just like his sales in the shop, and partly for that reason. The winter cold penetrated his prim and proper waistcoat, and the heavy grey cloak he wore over it.

If Brendan were in such a mood, he'd probably comment that the colour of his clothes were mirroring his current mood, but no such comment would be made today.

As he tramped through the snow he spotted a very tall, very striking and of course, very pretty elf.

He scurried towards his good friend, almost tripping over the roots hidden by winter's thick blanket...

A sudden movement catches De'am's eye across the white winter snow, and she looks in time to see none other than the halfling Brendan, catching his balance in a small flurry of short, waving limbs. De'am turns as he approaches.

"And who should I see but the ever respectable Brendan Mason." The elfess grins and gives him a nod in greeting. "And where have you been all these long months? Stirring up trouble as usual, no doubt." She subconsciously swirls around the liquid in her bottle."Business is business for Brendan, after all."

Brendan pauses in thought for a moment and decides to tell De'am a half story. "Well, my dear," started Brendan, "I've been on a fascinating journey of mystery, self discovery and of course, treachery..."

Brendan's straight face melts away, like the winter's snow and he chuckles at his own sarcasm. "In truth, De'am, I've been hibernating!"

Brendan nods to the swirling bottle of liquid and asks De'am for a slug of it to warm his heart, and of course, replete his recently evacuated liquids.

He walks with De'am, irregardless of her destination.

After managing to give some bad advice which shouldnt had been taken Farel makes his way through Trolls bane, persistant smile and hat in place the man approaches the two speaking figures.

' Hello lady, a pleasure, and greetings to yourself Brendan.'

With a flick of his hand the man removes his hat and widens his smile.

' A beautifull day, we need to meet for business sometime Brendan, but for now, care to share what you have in that bottle dear '

"Hibernating!"

De'am laughs as she continues her easy pace with Brendan at her side. As he asks for a swig, she gives the bottle a dubious glance. The elfess puts a finger to her lips musingly and grins."You're certainly welcome to as much as you like, Brendan my friend." The dark green bottle is offered to the halfling.

"Before you sip, I might also mention that it's a Tcimta drought. That is, if you've a mind to try it, Tzi and I and the rest of the Tcimta will not be responsible for whatever reaction your stomach and mind care to give."De'am clears her throat delicately after her disclaimer and releases the bottle to Brendan's hands.

As she walks towards the eastern wood carefully watching the amount of Brendan's consumption, a voice catches her ear. De'am looks over her shoulder to find a man flashing his wide smile and tipping his hat down courteously to the two. He seems to be an acquaintence of Brendan's, though De'am has personally never seen him in the town before.

The elfess stops and turns briefly in their walk to greet the human. She takes his extended hand delicately and politely nods. "Delakaniam venTcimta, a pleasure to meet you. I am called by the name De'am, however." She smiles down past her shoulder at the halfling. "A friend of yours by chance, my good Brendan?"

Brendan chooses his words very wisely; "More of an acquaintance, De'am." Brendan takes a quick sip of De'am's unusual liquid and immediately feels it going straight to his head. Brendan shakes his head, as if to remove it's calming influence from his head, but fails.

"Well, my dear...De'am," poses Brendan, "Where are we wandering to today?"

De'am turns to the east again and points ahead to the woods. "We are paying a visit to the eastern forest, to an elf who speaks with squirrels." She grins and winks at a small, furry nose that peaks itself out from the cover of her cloak. "And as a matter of fact, we really shouldn't keep him waiting, as well known as elves are for their patience." De'am invites the human to join them in a politely off-hand manner, and she then resumes the walk. A brief reassurance is given that more liquor can be shared upon reaching destination.

Wrapping her cloak around her against the chill of the wind, she asks, "Liking the Tcimta brew, Brendan?

Tzi starts in annoyance as her concentration is broken. She was contemplating a particularly nice set of icicles and the patterns the sun made when it shone through them when she heard the cheerful chatter of people walking nearby. Most of her annoyance evaporated, however, when she recognized her sister's voice. She stands up slowly, as for some strange reason some of her clothes seem to have frozen just slightly, and follows the sounds of the merry crew to their location. She smiles as she recognizes Brendan Mason with De'am, and glances curiously at the human.
"Hullo De'am, Brendan!"
She glances again at the strange human, but in her customary way, ignores him until he introduces himself--or someone else does
"What are you doing on this side of the woods?"
She swigs from her own bottle as she insinuates herself into their group.

The sound of a familiar voice's greeting turns De'am's attention, and she looks to see her mirror image twin walking towards them across the frosted ground.

"Surprise after surprise. It's none other than my own very dear sister." De'am grins broadly and gives a deep mock bow. "This little fellow," --she nods to the small furry nose peeking from her bag-- "is a friend of Lysu's, who is has apparently taken up conversation with squirrels. I am simply answering an invitation for elf-to-elf talk, though it seems we may have more than only elves." A nod is given to the human and the halfling.

"I would invite you to join us, Tzi, but on second thought, I believe you would come along anyway." The elfess winks and continues the stroll. "Oh! And as a mention..... This is Farel. He says his name is Farel. Farel, this is Tzi. --She points to the human, then to her twin-- Tzi looks vaguely like me, but nothing to worry. She's the prettier one, it's really not difficult once you've seen us enough." De'am throws a glance at the other elfess and smother a giggle as she walks into the woods.
