It just shows you CAN rp without proper skills. Gannon is still one bad arse dude.
Group A has skills.
Group B has no skills.
Group A will always be the winner, group B always the loser.
No skills might work for some chars living in one of the groups, but not for a whole group of players.
Actually all the big groups of Illarion have excellent fighting skills, so it is impossible to play a good OR bad guy without skills.
Certain roles can be played with or without skills, namely retired, merchants, scholars, resource gatherers, any role which focuses more on personal traits of the char then his profession (like a certain strange old woodcutter some might remember).
Chars who have to compete with others one on one (fighters, mages) do need to have good skills to back up their role, as well as chars who should be able to create certain items which require hich skill levels to craft.

There's the problem of Illarion, some people still jsut play on skills, folks we don't need that.SKilltraining is so stupid just sitting somewher..click..sclick..click..click..click..click.. i did this with my first Chars, but its so stupid that i stopped doing..well now i just have chars with very less skills .
Oh and ohn didn't we whooped your ass some days before, yes we did, well we lost because the good always must win in Illarion, another problem, but we did it and I found it funny .
All i want to say..get away from skillrp..its stupid.
a) Claiming that the in-game skills like fighting abilities hold no weight in the roleplaying is an equivalent of a sick joke to me. Sure, if you're the merchant/beggar/loiterer/pimp or something of the sorts, you don't care about getting PKed with little to no roleplay after you spent most of your time roleplaying. But we're talking about a fantasy game, and especially new people who are unfamiliar to things will almost inevitably want to be able to work towards playing a hero or villain. This, does not work without the skills. Don't kid other people with such ridiculousness.
b) Why whine about heroes and villains anyway?
c) I've recently came to the conclusion that whining about powergaming, as it is a common sport in illarion, is an elegant form of griefing other players. Someone's character overpowers your own and suddenly you forget about roleplaying and playing the weaker. The "powergamer" who wasted real time of their life clicking on the same ugly old tiles several times and spent more in-game time is automatically the weak roleplayer. Think carefully about it, naysayers, and one day you may agree with me.
d) I last played a few months ago, and I agree with Misjbar about characters having lost the special flair about them. Sure, roleplaying may be decent at the moment (don't know what the past few months were like), but the last times I played, roleplaying here was about watching people rigidly play out stereotypes and clichés. Endless discussions about how to play something or how to not play it have strangled alot of the individuality I used to enjoy so much in this game.
e) The charwipe has good and bad things, imo. I won't elaborate on the good things, it sickens me how often I've read about "good" things on these forums without people at least making an effort of criticism to along with it. The bad thing I see in it is that the charwipe won't be wiping out the history, setting people on a new map, and driving people to create new characters and a new collective story and character community. I find the original Illarion story ridiculous in the first place. Elements like Fluffy the Sheep, Darkwalker the villain (sure- from days when rules were not enforced, huh), or all the happily named characters that breach the naming rules; all such things have convinced me that fresh, clean slate would not hurt illarion. Beginning from square one again. I believe that if you think otherwise and all merrily "rebuild" your characters from zero again without discontinuing the old ones, the charwipe is just going to be a farce.

So last, but definitely not least, take care, Misjbar.
I'm convinced you're a great player, in fact, imho I think you were one of the best I had the chance to roleplay with. Take your good and well-deserved long break, and return to bless this community with your "skills". (: I know most didn't shed any tears for me having left and not wanting to come back, but they should do such for you even if it's only a break.

Not quite. The good dudes can hide behind the good dudes with lots of fighting skill (because there is an abudance of good characters right now), while the bad guys get the short end of the stick by not having enough players interested in siding with them.
Illarion is fiction, that takes place in a Western environment. And in Western Fiction, good always overcomes evil.
Illarion has been around for some odd number of years. Trollsbane has and still is there as big and imposing as ever, Northerot is in ruins and I can't name any villains off the top of my head who openly oppose everybody else.
I am playing a bad guy. I am playing a cunning bad guy. I can find plenty of strong warriors who will protect him as long as he knows how to communicate with them.
That was to dispute Bloodhearte.
Greed is a good evil.
Four nights a week my sister and I have about a two hour conversation about how Illa has changed but we always come up with a way to make it fun for ourselves anyways. Maybe that's what everyone else should do as well.
Hey, come back as fast as possble =). I will miss you, and your Misjbar. Was fun to have the feud between Galim and Misjbar ^_^.
But I understand you, once your character chosen a way you don't feel comfortable with to roleplay it it will be not much fun for you to continue that rp.
I hope we will still speak over msn =).
*a hug from me* .
*sighs*. it is sad, short before i will come back...perhaps...you will go =(. Hadn't the possibility to roleplay with you for a long time now, i liked our roleplay *sob*
When I'm done, I will be removing Illarion from my favourites list.
When I am done, I will be removing Illarion from my computer.
When I am done, I will remove everyone's instant messanger screen name that will ever remind me of Illarion.
