The sealed letter

Post by Bror »

He swam the whole night. Completely exhausted and coughing like an old mage after a long run he pulled himself up the shore. Suspiciously looking around he made sure no one has seen him. He dried his wet body in some high grass, took a last look out of his hideout and started walking over the marketplace. He tried to draw no attention at him. His way should lead him to the local priests of the Zephia cult. There was a very important letter in his pocket. His master, the high priest Lzzan'twa sealed it with his personal seal.
Darn! There was a Lizard walking straight up to him, looking as if she would like to start a little chat. He has to deliver the letter as fast as possible!
To avoid drawing any attention on him he stoped and responded to the lizard that introduced herself as "Rydia". They had a small talk and in a moment of weakness he bragged about having to deliver an important message to the local priests. She imediately got interested and told him that she was one of the local priests. Unfortunately she stated to be a priestess of "the goddess" but the letter was adressed to the Zephia priests. But maybe Zephia has another name in this region? He heard that gods of many different names were worshipped all around Illarion but that there are only a few and they have multiple names.
He made the decision to swim back to the high priest and ask him if he may give the letter to Rydia. He said farewell and slipped back into the river.....

Lzzan'twa was upset. He said that it will now be too late to deliver the letter. When I told him my story his face color changed to red and he looked as if he would explode. He went to his table and took a glimpse at a map, where the Zephia cult groups of Illarion are shown. His face changed to a light gray and he was silent for a while. Then he yelled at me, why I haven't fulfilled my duty. He promised to think about a hard punishment when I get back. Before that I should try to deliver the letter again and - if I would be too dumb to find the Zephia priests - hand it over to Rydia. He stated that perhaps the priests of another guild may be able to help too.
I walked out of the door backwards and with a bowed head. My eyes were directed at a spot one meter before me. I was realy angry! This was so unfair! Lzzan'twa was the one to blame! The map with the Zepia cults showed no cult group in Troll's Bane. He was the one who made a mistake and wants to hide it by sending the letter to another gods cult group.
Anyway the letter seemed to be of great importance so I started to dive the way to Troll's Bane a third time today.

I was able to find Rydia fast. She was sitting in a bar, where she told me she could be found in the evening. Exausted like a knight after the five year war I droped onto a chair next to her and gave her the letter.

The sealed letter

*After reading the letter the news struck her as if it was a blow.  Organizing a small defense for the time being with the aid of Bror.  She is now here at the boards reaching out to the public*

There is a grave evil in our midst.  Its name is Drakhen Vorkalion a doomed priest.  His goal is a most foul one and if we do not stop him he will bring his master, the Bone Lord, to our fair island Illarion.  He needs the magic books in the shop to break the curse a Sirani Priest put on him blocking the full use of his powers.  It is my assumption that he intends to bring his master through a Doorway.  If we can not stop him in attaining the books he desires we have only one more chance to stop him from opening the door way.  He is likely to do this near the deamons and monsters his master has influeance over.  I implore all who love the land of Illarion to stand against this evil stop him, at all costs, from attaining any of his goals.  I believe he is on a time constraint.  I found this text in the library I need to look to see if it is correct.  “To establish a standing connection to the realms of Moshran’s servants, wait for the matching star constellation and make sure no one brings large amounts of holy water...” I had trouble concentrating so i did not have time to gather all of the text.

*Leaving the board to go to a clearing Rydia chanted to the Lord and Lady for help in the upcoming trials asking for protection form evil forces.*

Just one question Bror....you told the first part of the story in a 3rd person view and then you told the second part in 1st person view (calling the messenger "I") , so is the messanger in this story "Bror" or someone else?

I'm sorry, I am no storyteller but rather a small servant of Lzzan'twa. The whole story told by me were my personal experiences.

Dear Rydia
Would it be possible to recieve a copy of that message from Lzzan'twa. I'm very interested in content and subject of the letter because I know the high priest from my older times in the lizard city.
Although I'm seldom to see in Troll's Bane  the last time I still try to watch whats going on. In this case I cannot watch no longer if circumstances really threat my godess, her religion and us followers.
If things go worse than I dare to fear we, all followers of Zelphia, perhaps should meet to suggest and decide plans for the future.
