System.ini Corrupt
Hello all
Im running windows millenium. After installing a game a rundll error occrured which said had affected my system.ini.
And since upon booting i have no graphic support, nor mouse, and only partial keyboard.
After attempting system restores and bootdisks etc, i still have had no joy.
Dr Watson came up with this error, which i have no idea how to fix
The file mmsystem.dll is not listed in the [boot] section of system.ini. Multimedia services may be erratic.
At the moment i have managed to get this far through selective startup.
If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

System restore is your best bet, even if it's notr very recent. Although (this is just a geuss I havent had this problem), from what it looks like you might be able to manually edit system.ini to include that. I am not totally sur ehow one eould go about doing that though (and of course this assumes that file wasnt deleted).

Sorry Aristeaus. I am with them you need to just wipe it.
I HIGHLY suggest you get a different OS. Windows ME is riddled with bugs among other things. Its stability has always been questionable. Your even better off with windows 98 SE.
Though I HIGHLY suggest you get windows XP.
I have encountered something like this before and once it happens your more or less... Yeah your up the creek without a paddle. Save what Data you can and wipe it.
Format it then write it in zero's and one's using Fdisk.
( Make sure you have a windows start floppy made )
Hope these help you though I am sure its not what you wanna hear.
If you ever got it fixed as it is, it will never have the stability it did.
Best of luck, Gannon

Oh, and if you get XP, make sure its not home edition, XP Pro is better Its what I have... Oh, also, make sure you scan your computer for viruses, check for any repair needs on the hard drive (such as defragmentation), and keep a good amount of free space on your disk. Dont clutter it. Its just good computer care.

Allright Arist dont be throwing it out yet. I think all you have is some scratches on your disk. Very common.
What I want you to try is take your windows start up disk ( The one you were
Supposed to make )
Put it in then run msdos and go the the floppy.
In the floppy should be a program called "fdisk" Just run that and start it.
It will wipe it clean and should repair the damage. Hope it helps.
