Sickened
I am but a mere drifter among this isle, but it sickens me that the town guard stood in their castle as the southern parts of their settlement was ravaged by the intruding forces. I believe the orcs who were trying to rescue their kin care more about their blood and friends than the town guard does of their citizens. I spit on the guard and what they claim to stand for.

Captain John Irenicus did what was the wisest thing to do. All the people of the town were at the castle. Should we have risked their safety by leaving the castle undefended to protect worldly things? Farms, houses can be rebuilt, lives cannot be replaced.
Secondly, the orc attack was to recapture Kaja Wolfagen their shaman, if we had left the castle the Bloodskulls might have taken back their shaman, and that would have changed the entire battle.
The town won a decisive victory this day. I have not heard of any deaths on the towns behalf, only of countless Bloodskull bodies that litter the town, all of which shall be burned. To say you are ashamed of the way the town guard acted when it brought a resounding victory against the enemy is ridiculous.
I believe you were misinformed however and if I had the limited knowledge of what was going on as you do I would probably be reacting the same way.
