Need good newbie guide

I found one once, but i cant find another one. Im looking to become a smith but that doesnt need to be in the guide. Just with some basics to get started please

Basically there are two mines out there...a iron and a coal mine you need both to make something....you also need hammers and shovels to mine the iron and coal....and to smith something i am not quiet sure but i believe you will need a anvil to do so but i am not sure i dont smith things.

I would love to take a gander at ultimate Illarion,
how ever it request's the instalation of active X controls and does not elaborate as to why..
I am sure the site is safe and all being made and run by a player. How ever what controls am I installing and to what end ?

Thats odd, but I have a program that blocks such requests. Usually it will say "This page may not turn out right because active x is blocked", did not happen with ultimate illarion however.
