Writing a book

Post by Lysu Davanum »

Lysu walks barefooted through the woods, in his best robe. As he finds a small clearing, he sees a small bird, picking for seeds. A smile sets on his face.

"Finally, I guess I should start here...."

He takes out a small seed, puts it in the ground before him, and speaks some elven words, making hand gestures at the same time. From the ground sprouts forth a sapling, and soon the contours of a seat can be seen. He walks forwards, sets himself in the leafy seat, and takes out an unwritten book.

"I guess I should start....just wondering where too..."

He looks through the trees, to see wether someone is around too.

A slow, yet light-hearted and melodious humming seems to pick up in volume, somewhere in those woods, as if nearing the clearing with playful steps, but nobody is to be seen yet. Softly sung words interrupt the humming, and the voice carries closer as did the humming.

"... where did we come from? Why are we here? Where do we go when we die? What lies beyond, and what lay before? Is anything certain, if life?"

A soft crack of a dry twig broken underfoot prevails the arrival of the female voice, but the soft singing continues.

"... they say 'Life is too short, The here and the now', and 'You're only given one shot'; but could there be more, have I lived yet before, or could this be all that we've got?"

The contures of a figure seem to draw off from the rays of light piercing the forest's roof, as a relatively short, slender figure nears slowly, seemingly unaware of the elf's presence at the clearing.

"... if I die tomorrow, I'd be alright — because I believe, that after we're gone, the spirit carries—"

The singing halts as a young woman of somehow strange appearance steps out from in between the trees, and blinks at the elf through some strands of dark-black hair falling over her face.

"Hello, you", she mutters, before a smile plays accross her lips and eyes.

Observes the woman with care, closing the book in an instance. He steps down from his seat, and walks up to her.

"And who might you be?"

He walks around her, taking carefull steps, all the while stopping for a moment, take closer observation and walk on.

"Humans aren't supposed to come here darling...cities are for that purpose.."

He takes position before her again, brushing his goldblond hair behind his pointy ears.

In appearance, she measures no higher than a meter and 76 centimeters in height, but something strange remains about her—as if she wasn't human. Her clothing however, is ragged and beaten as if from having recently ended a long travel.

"Bethlemay, Beth, Bess; I've been called many names," she replies, words ending in a short giggle. "And I know some cities too well to prefer them over such serene places like this one, Sir."

With a gentle movement of pulling two simple wooden pins from her hair, the black strands fall down over her shoulders and reveal elongated, pointy ears of an elfess.

"The name given to me would be Bethemaëla, tho. And what might you be up to here, Sir?", she inquires, observing the seat of leaves in obvious bewilderment, wandering closer to it to lightly take a seat.

Arches an eyebrow, accompanied with a slight smile. He takes of his green silken robe, and folds it up. He wears a fancy red shirt and pants under there, adorned with golden thread for beautifull patterns.

"I'm Lysu Davanum, of Varshikar....are you enjoying my seat?"

He sits down in the grass, holding legs to the side. He lays his robe next to him.

Quickly covering her mouth with a hand before another giggle erupts, she blushes, however lounging leisurely on the chair and leaning back.

"Indeed, such comforts are not an everyday thing for me," she speaks with a smile. "But I must beg your pardon, my manners have been rawed by my many times in human company. Seeing that empty book of yours, I suppose I owe you a poem, Sir Lysu of Varshikar," adds Beth, rocking her head a bit while reciting his full name and vesting a friendly smile on her face.

Arches an eyebrow once again, this time not accompanied by a smile.

"How long have humans raises you? You seem like a little human girl, with no wisdom nor knowledge of the world at all..."

Takes out the book from his bag.

"And I really do not think a poem of yours would deserve a place in here...unless you can prove me you are a true elf.."

She gently rocks back and forth to gracefully stand back up from the seat, and rises again to her rather diminutive height. The smile had not ceased from her lips. There seems to be a short glimpse of a warm sparkle in her eyes as she walks towards Lysu, saying:

"I have yet to prove it to myself."

With that, she blinks away something, yet not ceasing to smile, as her gentle, pondersome footsteps carry her on. With slow movements, she binds her hair back behind her head, returning the wooden pins to their place in the careful mesh, and her elven ears disappearing slightly beneath the black hair.

"Please pardon to have interrupted you. I need time to familiarize myself with this island, and indeed I feel like a child in these surroundings."

She turned to face him again and curtsied politely, then avoided looking up into his eyes as she turned to leave the clearing on the opposite side from where she had arrived. Not an ounce of haste was in her motion, nor had the smile ceased to cross her face.

Quickly stands up, leaving the book open on the ground.

"No..no..wait! I..I didn't mean that.."

He walks after her quickly, and lays a hand on her shoulder.

"Please...stay. I would like to learn more..."

Beth turned her head slowly to look at Lysu, and a smile greeted him. A mixture of something warm and something sad, both entered her countenance at the same time, but warm nevertheless.

Frightened by the orc's sudden arrival, she takes an immediate step back away from it, fear glinting in her eyes and a short gasp escaping her lips. Never in her life had she seen one of these creatures before.

"Lysu, is that what I think it is?", she murmurs to him. "And what does 'greebs' mean?"
