Can it still be done

Post by Milo Hayfield »

Is it technically possible to become a druid anymore? I have everything i need and go through the process but my char cannot learn any herbs. Why not?

It's working alright, as far as I know.

However, if you've read the Book of Magi in the library first, before reading the book of Druidry, you can kiss Druidry good-bye.

Yeah, maybe. Best bet is straightforward asking a GM via PM.

Try Estralis Seborian.

As far as I could see you are neither a druide nor a mage yet.

My library reaserch skill appears under magic skills. Does that say anything? or does it always appear under magic no matter what?

It's registered under magic skills for me too.

I believe that's normal.

Maybe your character is not smart enough, however try asking a druid ingame to go through the process with you step by step, somthing like becoming a mage or a druid should not be able to be done by one player alone, but a path with teachers.

And that is the only reason i decided to make this post. I'm not trying to get ic information ooc. I'm posting because i've tried all the necicary actions to become a druid to no avail. Is there a technical problem and what help can i get to fix it?

I suppose this is indeed a technical problem, perhaps corrupted character data from one of the server-downs.

PM a GM, elaborate on the problem, and bid them to check it out for you.

Bingo. To become a druid, there is a minimum intellgence required.

Well, thats the problem. Too many players neglect the intelligence of their characters. I hope one day even fighters will get a disadvantage of low intelligence.

And send this game into even more of a downward spiral? no no no, the system needs to be changed so that things like this are not fixed.

It takes intelligence and knowledge to swing the weapon correctly.
I have a sword.
I look like a doofus trying to swing it.

It's probably also useful to be smart enough to know who is NOT supposed to hit ^ ^

A fighter with low intelligence should be as valid as one with a high one.
low intelligence -> barbarian who just runs into combat swinging his weapon at anything in sight (hopefully) killing it before it can react
high intelligence -> fighter who tries to outsmart the opponent with fighting tactics

So in my opinion attribute effects should be balanced so different attribute combinations can be as strong but in a different way.

I think that all the atributes should be dynamic. For instance studying in the library makes you more intellegent; things like fighting, chopping wood, mining, other physical labour make you stronger.
Things like that. This game is way to restrictive.

So was AD&D among the P&P RPGs, but considering the time it spanned and the popularity it enjoyed, it was successful anyway.
What section were we writing in again?
Oh, right. Technical support.

Actually, in AD&D it's possible to raise your base stats :).

Actually, that would depend on your DM and house rules.

Some games don't suffer a certain strictness, but when it comes to sorting forum topics, strictness can be useful. I'd say debating whether attributes should be subject to change or not, would better belong in the Proposals section, not on a thread in the Technical support.

But that might just be me.
