Thanksgiving of the Lizard Man - Isn't it today?

Post by Neon »

I heard from several sources that today there should be a thanksgiving celebration of the lizard man! But Olórin and me are wondering that nobody (instead of a dwarf) is around the shop. We would be thankful if someone would say us something 'bout. We are sitting at the shops entrance! Would be kind ...

Thanksgiving of the Lizard Man

The celebration of the water goddess will be next to her statue, where the lizards are supposed to sacrifice fruits and plant trees to please her. Since no other lizards seem to follow this old tradition I may be the only one. At least I haven't seen any other lizards for a while.

Thanksgiving of the Lizard Man

Post by Bror »

Exhausted from the long swimming tour through the river to the sunken lizards temple, the temple servant Bror swims before his highpriest Lzzan'twa. The only light source were the glowing fishes, that throw deep shadows on the priests face.
"Master 'twa! I have succeeded in my mission! Zelphia is freed!"
"Calm down, young lizard. Take a seat here, eat some crabs and relax. Then tell me the whole story."
Bror did what he was told and moved towards the high priests desk afterwards. "Sit down and tell me the whole story, Bror", he said.
I took a deep breath of fresh water and started to tell him everything.
"A few days before, a friend of Master Gohan reported the missing statue of Zelphia, our water goddess. Damien came up with a theory of fire elementals kidnapping the statue to do blasphemic things to her. We suspected that the cruel fire beeings hold her captured in a desert place, and discovered her in the desert north of the town. She was standing in a pool of lava, surrounded by many rocks, that shielded her from our entrance. Damien tried often, to cool the lava down with water spells and had partial success. This evening we went to the statue, to do the annual celebration for her. We prayed to her and sacrificed her many fruits and plants, that she had grown. The three people at the celebration, Neonfire, Olórin and me, tried to move one boulder with our shovels. We dug a big hole and the rock droped into it. The path was free for us to run into the lava pit and capture the statue. We jumped from stone to stone in it with fire and smoke biting in our eyes. I don't know how, but we managed to take her out there. I guess, she covered our bare feet with a protective water film.
We have chosen a nice place now, to build her a place for her own. Now the statue rests near a small lake, where we all planted apples, that grew to trees fast, with the power of the goddess. After that, Zelphia gave presents to the two people that didn't believe in her cult so far. Both gained fruits from far away lands, that have not been seen in this country. Neonfire gained a fruit, that looked like a big yellow curve, Olórin a orange ball with a rough shape."

Thanksgiving of the Lizard Man

Damien closes the letter, that consists of a fishy-smelling material, and gives it to the Lizard boy.
"Bring this to the temple, to the one named Bror. I cannot do it myself, for i know no spell or magic device to breath water... If we had a Library, i could research for... but no matter. I sometimes think too much... Thank you, and take these gold coins for your help..."
The messenger jumps into the river, and speeds up to the Temple. Damien goes to a bucket of water. "I think we have to research magic paper that works under water... this stuff the lizards use to scratch writings in smells like a fish - hide.. eek perhaps it IS..." He washes his hands, and turns to work.
The messenger reaches the temple, and gives a servant the letter to bring it to Bror's room.

( The following is the content of this letter : )
"Greetings, Bror. Excuse me for my absence during the sacred activities, but i had to follow a call. Someone reported heavy trouble with some kind of spirits, and i followed to investigate. The journey lasted several hours, and i found a small farm building. The fields had been burnt away partially. The Farmer, covered with several smaller fire wounds, told me that he had been attacked by several - at least six or more - invisible beings. They seemed to be angry, or something, and burned almost everything in range. I healed his wounds, and followed the "path" they had left, through a small wood (with several now burned trees). I have lost their path later on, but the description of the farmer sounds to me that they may be some kind of fire spirits. He said that they have taken form some times, and showed themselves as a moving fire... leaving burning fields on their path when visible. I fear that some of these lesser beings still are in this world. I returned in the dark, after the "thanksgiving" - time, and found the fields of the farmer regrown. At least the statue is save again, so told neonfire. But afterwards i have found several small burnings again. I Fear that there are still some lesser fire beeings around, and that the force behind them will try to make trouble again. Perhaps we need a temple for all existing gods, to keep the more emotive ones calm. Since we have not many writings to research, could you find out in your Temple how many and perhaps what gods are known in these realms ?
I will now search the lava fields again, and study the remaining ones - if there are any left, they could mean danger. Thank you for your time.
Yours,
-Damien"
