Disappearing Forest

Post by Jeremy Gems Willowbrook »

I recently planted a forest of apple trees near Varshikar. It took a few days and I planted around 50 trees. When I went up to the forest today it was gone...stumps and all. I dont know if someone removed it ingame or if the server has wiped it for some reason. Are items, such as trees, permanent if placed by players.....or do they have a life span?

I think such changes are permanent, but I could be wrong.
For example, one time someone had removed massive amounts of the trees in the North-western forest. It had persisted on for days, the forest looked like it had been ruined. On another note, there were not as many trees in Troll's Bane as there were when I started out newly with my character Sian.

I personally think those trees were removed in-game by characters; for example the orcs, who aren't too fond of trees.

If the tree "status" would always be predefined by the server, there wouldn't be much reason to play foresters, lumberjacks, rangers, or druids, now, would there? ;)

Edit: I forgot to count up "Master Tree Removers", as well, hehe.

If you plants 50 then probably yes. As GMs *may* have removed them. It's such as tree blocking areas. GM's will remove those (from my memory) if they find them.

Most likely though, someone removed them in game.

Keep in mind, the north is extremely rocky and unsuitable for most plants. Fruit trees are no exception. A gm probobly removed them because the area is unsuitable for even a few trees. Look at how much farm space Darlok could only get. All that land with only a few spots worth planting anything.

normally trees are persistant.
but they may be removed by other players or gms (or by a servercrash if the map was not saved before)

so pick your prefered tree-eater ;)

Dont mind people cutting the trees for wood.....thats one of the reasons they are there......just dont dig up the stumps.......theres only so many trees you can plant without going crazy.
So all budding lumberjacks out there...
Leaf my trees alone....
Branch out into a new craft....
Or i'll stalk you....and you find out my bite is worse than my bark.

LOL (only slightly madly)

Last time I checked, this is the TECHNICAL forum Jeremy. RPG might be more suitable.

Planting trees in rocks (basically all of the north), is not a good idea. Please, you character I am guessing is a halfling and would probobly know that you could grow little to nothing there.

Northerot, last time I heard, was ment to be a rocky place, barren wasteland. Which was the irony of fighting over it. Like Grobul stated, it is a very dry climate. There are no rivers. There is a desert and rocks. Don't overdo the trees.

Which must be minimum 6 metres deep (or even connecting to the ocean via a sub-terranean, aquatic cavern), as you can pull out some big-ass fish from it.
