I'm a new player - just having had my account approved and lately activated, I've dipped into the game a little bit, and already have stupid questions:
Those books in the shelves near where you appear for the first time... how do you use them? I managed to drag one out onto the floor, but I couldn't seem to get it to do anything else.
This question, I concede, has been answered on this forum before - however, I could only find an answer in German, which is, alas, not one of the languages I have any degree of fluency in.
I did get the impression that the books are used to upgrade skills, rather than holding written information. Is this right?
Thanks for reading, folks. My character's name is Cadmon. You won't know him, of course, but if you say hello, you'd probably find him an amiable sort.
Hi everybody!

If you have it lying on the floor.
If you stand on it - take a step away.
Hold Shift and click on it. (using items) You get useful information if you're able to read. (You can learn it by reading itsself)
These books hold information, no skills anymore.
Welcome to Illarion.
