On duty day and night

In the morning you find the tower guards missing at the eastern gate towers. As you go up the towers, you find them sleeping, tied up. Their breath smells of night angel blossom.
Looks like they were put to sleep with some potion.

They sleep peacefully, they have no wounds. No signs of battle or any track. Door locks are opened, but not broken.

As you go to the store to look at the town wall, you see a firnis blossom on the ground and a note:

"How is your luck tracking my movement? I hope you're having fun.
I am not a threat to this town. You have many threats, but not me.
I think I should be let back in. And then we will all live peacefully.
But for EVERY innocent life that is TAKEN by the town GUARDS or their HELPERS, I will TAKE one life EQUALLY.
But if we make peace now - I promise no more kills.

I would like to thank the people of Trolls Bane. You all came together to protect yourselves and stand against the evil that lurked in the night by sending many doves and hints about this creature of habit. We were able to figure out his repetative returns to town at the same times of every day.

Did you not read the message that was left behind?

Will you sacrifice the lives of the town people you swore to protect just for revenge on a person who wants peace? That is petty. And you call yourself to the town guard? I suggest you make peace and end the bloodshed.

Paul i have spoke to you in town about this. I will not write it all down just to bicker with you here. It seems you are much better at throwing insults in a wall writing then you are in a one on one conversation around a fire.
