Voice for the People

Post by Malvita Rynal »

A parchment is written in a silvery ink tacked to the wall. Bordered in gold, demanding attention.

People of Troll's Bane,
Let yourselves not be decieved!
Lyrenzia has fallen, as well it should, because the voices of the people WILL have the final word. None of you elected to have Lyrenzia, it was thrusted upon you, just as this Triumvirate is being. How long do you think this will last? Do you really want to be TOLD who will rule you, or do you want to elect your own delegates?
I, Malvita Rynal, as well as others wish to be a voice for the People, the Citizens of Troll's Bane. We will not appoint ourselves, we ask for your votes. We want to be the extention of your voice. Not to rule you, but to help you lead this town to its former glory. Isn't that what all of us want?
The Town Guard wishes to rule the town, with the Grey Rose a close ally. There is nothing wrong with this, other than the fact that each gaurd was either self-appointed, or appointed by Lyrenzia. If the government fell, why should it's employee's still have power? The Guard do their job well, but their job is protecting you, not ruling you through a harsh and unlawful dictatorship.
Many of you who will read this are not citizens of Troll's Bane. But what makes a citizen a citizen? Do you go by a list written by Lyrenzia? Those that were banned by a fallen government, do you still wish to be banned? The fact of the matter is that all of us have a say in our government. All of us will reap the benefits of good leaders, or feel the crack of the whips of a dictator. If the past of sin and unlawfulness is behind a person, then there should be another chance given, just as the past of fear and dread is behind the town and it gets another chance. A chance that this time the people wil be able to rule themselves, that the people will be able to have a say in the matters that affect them.
We are not here to give you a miniscule list of potential candidates and have you say which of the evils is lesser enough for you to choose them. We are here to put a public place for anyone who wishes to help the town to become better than it ever was to be able to post his or her name, why he or she is eligable to try to be the public faset for the people's voice.
We don't require that you live inside the town, or that you are on some silly list written by corrupt politions. Everyone, even the dwarves in their hole Silverbrand, the elves in the forrests, and the Halflings in their cottages are eligable to be a part of our cause. The government of this town will affect you all, seeing as how it is not only the central location of commerce, but you all must come to it at least on a weekly basis for supplies. ((OOC the rule that the character must have a boardname 3 months old is still up for debate, that will be desided and posted or edited in soon))
I am the one writting this only becuase I was the fastest with my quill and ink. I am better than none of you, but I'm not any worse. We are all equal, and this affects us all the same. Please, think about this. Would you rather have someone TELL you they will rule, or someone give you a chance to rule yourself? I do not question the honor of the Guard Captain, nor the Earl of Grey Rose. But if they agree on something the people disagree on, they have the power to make your opinions VOID. Do you wish to give anyone that power?

Think about these things. And if you feel you can help out with our cause, leave your mark here, leave your comments, leave a donation if you like. Or Send a dove to myself personally. This is important and must be delt with. I have lived under a dictatorship before, and I can tell you all from experience, a price cannot be put on freedom. Protect yours at all costs!

A very concerned Citizen,
~Malvita Rynal~

I fully agree with this. Noone has to rule somebody, noone has to be ruled by somebody. Everybody has his own freedom and should be able to help a town himself.
I don't have anything against the Rose nor the Townguard, but as I read the proklamation on the board my heart stopped going on for a little moment. I wasn't able to believe that the Rose and the Townguard, especially Lennier and John Irencius, are able to do something like that.

I am wiling to help you.

Yours,

In Irmoroms name, shall I take this as your resign from Silverbrand? The kingdom of dwarves? Ruled by King Tialdin?

so you lied in your oath just to become a member? You don't seem to be very trustfull after this words for me. Can we trust a dwarf who thinks like that? I fear no. We should meet and speak Rackere.

You will be alone with this, Rackere. Don't expect the help of the town Silverbrand.

They don't ask the citizens inside the town before taking control, because they know what the response would be.

And what would that response be? Revolt?
The peasants and commoners are not the ones carrying the halberds and the suits of platemail. Of course, a logical reaction might be revolt, but you're forgetting who here is capable of killing and who is not.

No, Tialdin was elected by a vote. Well, there wasn't any canidate against him, but he got the trust from the dwarves.

The Triumvirat wasn't elected by anybody, they claimed to be the ruler of Troll's Bane. There's a very big difference between Tialdin and the Triumvirat. You know that.

Lord Galim, Bishop of the Great Irmorom, I think we have a misunderstanding. Silverbrand is as much a part of this island as Troll's Bane itself is. We should not be seperated, we should be united. I have personally seen you in town quite often, isn't you wife a guard? Then don't you want to see the town that you both somewhat reside in have a government that is not thrusted upon them. Say a group of self-righteous dwarves waltzed into Silverbrand and told you quote "how it was going to be now" wouldn't you want to stop it? That is hypothetical, I know the dwarves would never fall to such.. sheer ignorance. But I personally ask your help Galim, help me and my peers to make a great place out of this Troll's Bane, like the text read that it once was. And do not disown Rackere, he is only trying to help with a cause that he believes in. If that is not noble dear Priest, then what is?

I have to dissapoint you Malvita. I am friend of John and Lennier. I trust them. Together we experienced alot. So i am for them to be members of that new government. So don't try to recruit me for your ideas.

I respect that Priest, as I do the opinions of John and Lennier and their followers. But just because you disagree with Rackere, and he is following something other than you, he is a dishonor to Silverbrand? What if King Tialdin sided with another group, would that make you a dishonor? I don't wish to insult you, Priest Galim, but I only wish to see your motives. Also, I understand you position, if the Triumvirate falls, or becomes as great an evil as any other, you can just retire to your quarters underground. I, personally, don't have that option, so I seek to try to help those who will have to live in this town, like myself, if anything of that sort happens.
It suprises me that a Priest of great Irmorom would be so quick to anger, and to write with such a disrespectful connotation. I wonder, have I made you wrathful in the past? If so I apologize, and I was not trying to recruit you per se. I was, as I still am, trying to give you an alternative to a forced government.

Rackere sweared an oath to King Tialdin. This outh bind him to Silverbrand and the King. He sweared that he will follow the king, so the king is his ruler. His words that noone has to be ruled by others or has to rule them contradict his oath he sweared.

Trolls Bane is important for us too. It is an important market, and it is part of our own life. Don't think we have no interests in the town and his future.

Please, why do you think I am angry? I am not. It would sounds different when i would be angry. Believe me.

Then I have insulted you, as I said was not my intention in the first place. I am curious about these laws and oaths and such, maybe we could sit at a fire soon and speak. I believe we misunderstand each other sorely, and this should not happen. Hopefully I will see you soon Priest Galim, may the god of your choosing, Irmorom bless you and your trade.
