Signing up new players.

Post by Mia Handur »

Is it possible to speed up sending the "story" screening e-mail to new players quicker so they know you at least got their account request? Or some other form of acknowledgement? I think it may help a bit to get new folks in Illarion if they do not have to wait so long for the First initial reply. If they still want to play after seeing the "story part" of the screening then most will probably not mind waiting awhile for the staff to decide on whether or not they have been accepted and to setup the account.

Sincerely,
Mia

This step in the account request process is, as the others, manual. In other words, someone chooses the "story-mail" for a player by hand - carefully choosing one that has a story for a race different than that of the initially generated character. So while it's random; it's not completely random. This, if I'm not mistaken, is required to see if a player can handle unexpected situations with solid RP. I'm not from the staff, but I think it's highly unlikely for this to change in the near future.

Speeding up replies

My thanks to you Sian for your valuable insight on this matter. It did clarify a few things for me and gave me pause to reflect. If it would help any I would be willing to offer my assistance to the already severly overworked staff in helping with the screening process.

Sincerely,
Mia

Lots of people have offered in the past to help with the account system. The problem with this, is that there is sensitive information within account requests, including passwords. I sincerely doubt that they would give the job to a relative newcomer.

I would be willingly to offer it too, in accordance with my high computer time and boredom level. But as Brendan said, relative newcomers would not get the job
