err msg: "DDER INVALID MODE"

DDER INVALID MODE, is the error message that i get after the login screen. I am using W98 on a 450 Mhz computer.
Any suggestions out there?

Sounds like your graphics gard does not support the mode.
You'll need 1024*768 pixels at 16 bit colors (64K).
right click on your desktop, select lowes entry (something like preferences, properties ..)
Then select preferences/properties again and try if this graphics setting is supported from your graphics adapter
