Character Application
Hello all... just a newb here trying to get into Illarion, but I have one prob....I have sent my character profile to be registered twice and have not received a response. What is up with that? I think the issue of having more people play could be addressed by fixing this inefficient application process.. or maybe I am just a unique case. Either way could anyone tell me what I might be doing wrong... or is it just bad luck or what? Thanks in advance, and I hope to meet you all IC real soon.

I believe if you read the site some place it says, Quality not Quantity, the players and the creators dont want alot of people playing, I had to go through the entire application process(didnt make it the first time either) so your going to have to do it to. But if you read around you know that you have to have a good name before the questions are even sent to you. So I take it your name isnt to good or you just have to wait awhile before everything comes
Do you think that this is the reason? Do you think Deimos would be rejected?! Not me.Gro'bul wrote:...are they that stupid to not see that your name is one of Mars's moons with the i and e switched (I'm guessing spelling error). Read the namerules, you will not see a reply until your name is acceptable.
Phobos
Metis
Adrastea
Amalthea
Thebe
Ganymede
Callisto
Leda
Lysithea
Ananke
Pasiphae
Would you reject all these names just a because a moon is named this was?
Besides, as you can read somewhere on the boards, the account system will be improved soon. They are working on it.
They could have used one of the lesser known ones. Also Deimos was a god who accompanied Ares (Mars) into battle or something like that in greek and roman mythology.
The site states you cannot use any words as first names. There are exceptions but not many. Deimos was never a name used for people anywhere at any time.

First of all I would have to agree that Diemos would not be a rejected name. Secondly, if it were then I would have to say the restrictions are maybe a little to strict... I mean I can see refusing someone like MeantToKill or something retarded like that but geez how picky can they be here. Even if the name were rejected I would not have a problem with that... I mean the appeal of coming to Illarion for me was the fact that it is strict RPG, so that is fine. But what would be nice is a response saying ... "hey, change your name dude" or "you are completely wrong in character creation." So that way I would know if I needed to change stuff, or if my application just got overlooked or accidentally erased, etc. Oh... and finally, Diemos was not the name of my character, I used a different IC name so as not to reveal my IC identity. I like to keep forum names and IC names seperate.
The Gro of Gro'bul is from the Gro of Miracle-Gro Kasume is jusy assume spelled differently and it's completely ludicrous that I am expected to know the names of all the moons in the solar system and it's apparently going to bother me in game.
There is a point where names shouldn't be accepted, but it's annoying for people to rant at the slightest thing.

So when and where was Gro'bul used as a name at any time? And just say it was... what about the handful of lizard names I have seen floating around, they were CREATED by the player as they should be, not historically used. Not to mention almost every RP name I have seen. Otherwise everyone might as well be named "Joe" or "Tom" If a name has had to be used before in the past then that is ridiculous. And the spelling is not incorrect. DIEMOS is a character name I have used before, with a storyline, family, last name, etc. The i goes before the e.

Just some food for thought, Diemos: it states specifically on the frontpage of www.illarion.org (in German, though) not to send multiple requests while you're waiting for authorization.
By the way, you didn't say how long you've been waiting for authorization, so if it's less than a timespan of 1-2 weeks you've been waiting, you'll have to be more patient.

You'll eventually get an e-mail with some questions, and then you respond with an e-mail and your answers to those questions, and by then I think you're notified if you're accepted or not - but in the first phase (which mainly has to do with the name and char, and is before you receive the e-mail with the questions), I believe they do not notify you if they don't accept it. If it's any relief to you, Kasume and some others waited for full two weeks for their authorization, too.
Unorigional names such as Sam, John, Peter, Ashley, Ponelope, ect. were commonly used as names for along time throughout the world, making it possible for alot of people to have the same name. Purely origional names (which I would suggest using) are not words or names of famous people or things and are therefore acceptable.
Hermie is correct...
I might be a outsider to this site and im not playing yet.
But I believe that alot of people on this site are walking a fine line between trying to be real and trying to be a communist.
Also, the way it really was in the dark ages or the times before and after, people where named alot of times after there job. Which explains why someone people are surnamed now days "Miller" or "Silversmith" they were named after their jobs, and jobs are words. So, to the person who said words used in /for names wont be accepted, well IF that is true the people who did this site didnt research their history, becuase words and jobs were used to make peoples names.
Finally, why doesn't everyone take it easy. Everyone here is a little to uptight the GM's will decide names so everyone doesnt need to nit-pick over every little name of a moon, and besides you don't know what someone was thinking when they made the name. You could twist it around to make any type of word and say thats where they got their name from, but you really have no idea.

You can use words in last names, not in first. Lumberjack Silversmith, obviously unacceptable. Samuel Silversmith, Jack silversmith, Lumaras Smith. Its really not that hard (as in really easy) to come up with an origional name, thats why I am a name nazi. It is a little harder to think up a name rather than to steal one. Your character's name will be his/her's till your character dies, is banned, or deleted. (unless you get married or some dramatic event) So it is probobly best to put a little thought into it anyway.
